The doors locking at 50km is probably done so it wouldn't lock in off road situations

Lets see you review the latest Rexton I was impressed when I sat in it, but not driven it yet.

Was this the 2.2L model? 178 bhp? Surprised you mentioned it's inefficient on fuel. I though it would have been better then the previous 2.7L diesel.

The eXdi model has a 2.0 litre engine and a 7 speed trip-tronic transmission(NAG2), and it's a learning transmission where if you're a speed demon then the transmission will adapt being more responsive for power/quick acceleration and if you want fuel efficiency you need to drive with the RPM's not exceeding 2000 rpm's. The transmission also has a standard mode and a winter mode, the standard mode is your normal driving mode and the winter mode will cause the SUV to start off driving from 2nd gear so as not to spin the wheels on icy driveways or icy roads when driving in revers or forwards.

Yep, I agree with Dave on the audio looks like you started that transition too quickly.

this gearbox is one of the best if not the best mercedes ever produced. yes it is not a true mercedes gearbox being made by ssangyong but one builded with german know how / tehnology, better if ssangyong stick to this gearbox, 20 years good same old proven technology, an era when car were trully cars not disposable like items after 5 years.

This Rexton is largely based on the Mercedes M-Class SUV It was Designed by Giorgietto Giugiaro's Italdesign studio (Italy)It Originally had a 2.7L Mercedes Diesel Lump under the Bonnet But Ssangyong Introduced their own 2.2L Euro 6 Diesel engine about 2years ago to the Rexton Line up it still uses The Mercedes Automatic Gearbox...There"s a brand new Model out at the Mo and coming to Ireland next Month (September) By the Looks its a fairly classy Motor .

I guess EU emission taxes make cars like these a lot more expensive than they should be. But maybe at the right price point and with some kia-style 7 years warranty this could work as a great option for people who really need a big 4x4, say to pull a horse carriage.

Bob, the door lock automatically at a certain speed for crash safety. For example, if you roll over the car, and the door aren't locked, they could open during the crash and the chances of you getting hurt would be greater.

+Protector of the Republic When a crash is detected the doors will automatically unlock, doors cannot fall open even if they are unlocked given the way locks are made. The only reason doors auto-lock is to protect the occupants from other people opening the car when driving, that's why other car makers lock the doors at 5-10kph or lower

my guess is its a member of his family judging by what looks like a red/pink booster on the passenger seat. the transition at the end, well that summed up this vehicle .. not much more to be said. thanks bob, see you on the farside :)

To me it like outdated already, I think the only reason you'd buy one of these is because you haven't looked at anything else

got caught out in 2007 thinking the Kyron was a great buy. God what a heap, couldn't give it away in a raffle. lost a shed load of money when trading.
