It sounds V shaped. At least there's a dip in the midrange and top-end tilted. It does output a lot for its size and price, but quantity doesn't translate to quality here, imo.
In certain ways this speaker is superior to lots of the other mini dynamos out there, including the Polk XT15s, JBL Stage 120s, and my little buddys the Micca RB42s. Clarity, fluidity and dynamic speed and punch are all really good, and are all basicly ruined by their painfuly sharp and accentuated upper midrange response, and other slightly unatural tonal quirks. It keeps being such a big shame to me.
This speaker gets far less help from the Yamaha than the Oberon did. Its bass and midrange are still weak and thin, and its still unlistenable. The only improvement over the Arcam is the less shrill high end. This is one of the worst sounding speakers on this channel. Dali should be ahsamed of themselves.
Less worse than the Dali Oberons. A little more tolerant than the Oberons.
