From Bangalore, I took a cab . Started at 4 in the morning and reached there by 12:30 noon . The place is well connected by road. Meanwhile there are overnight Volvo buses too and a few trains from Bangalore.

This place is really a holy place where Goddess Namagiri sent her blessed child to show us light towards infinity amidst darkness.

The house where a great man used to live. actually a simple and kind man through whom mathematics poured like river Greatly said : SIMPLE living,HIGH thinking

Great Knowledge comes in humblest of origins....

I'm very proud to be a native of kumbakonam where the great legend lived

I totally agree with you. On my visit I was a bit disheartened to see that there were no proper sign boards as to where the house was . Moreover, the street on which it was situated had a statue of a politician on its roundabout where as the bust of Ramanujan was inside the house. The street itself did not bear his name. Moreover there was no guide but only a caretaker/watchman who could not understand english and had very little to no knowledge about some of the artifacts inside the house. So if you had any querry , there was no one to retort.

Yes. But who cares. Actually it is maintained by private people . Atleast Mathematics scholars must come forward to maintain. Now it is maintained as it is without any damage is welcoming by people who respects the genius

Im getting tears uncontrollably. Thanks to the youtuber for showing this house. He rightly said that this is the costliest property of the country. We have bow and keep our head on the window sill which you showed. The power will reach our sahasrara chakram

Definitely one day i visit..... My biggest inspiration . GOD OF MATHEMATICS..

I would definitely go one day here and solve problem of Maths where the god of mathematics used to walk one day and I know by solving maths problem in Ramanujan house I definitely get the answer of my maths problem instead rather then going into any 5 star hotel I prefer to go in Ramanujan house .....it's like my dream house....

Pity the condition of the great legend's house ...it is as sacred as temple....govt should put beautiful carpets on floor, colour the building,exhibit more of his photos and activities....it should be kept as museum for all fond visitors ....sad to say ,but people here know only to applaud for film and sport celebrities....

It is situated in the Kumbakonam town of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The temple and the Ramanujan’s House are situated on the same street known as the Sarangapani Sannidhi Street.

Ramanujan did not have kids. Though later on his wife Mrs. Janaki Ammal , when aged 50, adopted a son named Narayanan and conducted his wedding in 1972.

can we visit this place as a tourist? booking has to be made?

You don’t have to make any special booking and you can visit it as a tourist . The timings are from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 1:30 PM till 6:00 PM.

too much encroachment by neighbours, govt should have bought surrouding buidlings and made this a proper museum... May be it will not helpfull for vote bank because he was a hindu... Atleast ASI shoud have do that
