Doesn't matter how many times I watch these scenes, I really feel for Shashi what she might be going through. The impact Sridevi left on the screen through this movie is non-comparable.

That cafe part makes me very emotional.. my mother doesn't understand English. so what ?? But her hindi is marvelous and I am proud of her ...sometimes I really think that why English has been given so much priority in india ..this language has become a judgment like if you don't know English you are uneducated , you are a outdated. why ??

Not knowing English is not a crime. But leaving someone alone to fend for themselves in a place where they don't understand what is being spoken nor those around her understand what she says is highly avoidable IMO. When her knowledge of the local language is so poor, why did she venture out alone? She could have asked her niece to accompany her. I thought the situations in the film were too exaggerated. People working at cash counters and those standing in a queue are also hard pressed for time. It is hardly a place for sign language from severely underconfident tourists or immigrants. Sridevi did seem like a retard in some scenes rather than someone who didn't know the language.

No matter if your parents dont know English, its just a language to communicate and they made you this much capable to attend a school and learn the language. The girl is too rude and mannerless but its not the fault of the child but the father who keeps degrading the wife in front of the children.

This is one of my favorite movie and I used to watch it again and again due to the awesome acting of legendary actor 'SriDevi'. Also, this movie has lots of touching moments and Sridevi made it alive. Truly in current days bollywood not only required the face but natural acting like SriDevi and Madhuri Dixit.

I have watched English Vinglish for more than 47 times and still it's my favourite movie. Now I have lost the count. I remember it was my first movie released on 5th of October 2012. Her acting was amazing and emotions and expressions were seemed genuine. Unfortunately She passed away on 24th of February 2018. Missing Sridevi ji alot for her role of Shashi in English Vinglish

Bhai Iss sansar pe acche logo ki value hi kam hoti hai toh aisi ghatiya jagah pe Rehne se accha bhagwan ke pas chale jaye, they deserve peace rather than hate.

I'm staying in a hostel in Bangalore. The caretaker lady is a Telugu lady who speaks English just like Shashi. But that never been a problem between any of us to communicate. What I was coming to say is, how realistically Sridevi is acting in these scenes, the struggle with English, humiliation, it's perfect!!

I love this movie. All immigrants coming to america/english speaking country for the first time can relate to this. It's so hard and she portrays that so well. RIP Sridevi

Everytime I watch this movie there is only tears in the eyes the purity n naturalness of the characters hits the soul from the core .. only love ♥️

Sreedeviji was such a fine actress.. really. I had tears in my eyes while hearing her talk.

What an ever-widening expression of the eyes... beautiful Sridevi..and her laddus...Taste of her amazing expression makes and leaves the countless true feelings behind which can just be savoured as every last morsel of her offerings to the divinity which landed her in perfection...Wow!

I remember feeling this way the first time I visited chennai.... despite of knowing English , hindi and malayalam....I couldn't manage.....I still get PTSD everytime I go there....but now we have uber/Ola and delivery apps so it's manageable

one thing that is the best about sridevi was when she's into character, she is the character!!! no more Sridevi!!!!
