Pakistan needed 183 to win in 2nd innings and they reached it by losing 2 wickets.
Pakistan won the match and test series 1-0.
Mohammad Asif was announced both Man Of The Match and Man Of The Series.

Asgiriya pitch was one of the best pitches for all bowlers, always produced scintillating matches, shame no matches are played anymore.
I was a kid than and remember that I read about this test and Mohammad Asif’s performance was praised and called as”kandy ka hero”.He was a brilliant test match bowler, a shame that he destroyed his career.
2006 has been a year of too many highs and lows for Sri Lankan cricket. This game was one of the lowest.
