Stick to what's true to you and never go down a level unless you have the guts to go up again, because that would be life changing experience. ❤

I was surprised when I was talked to the manager of a public storage building. He looked Indian or South Asian but insisted he was Dutch and he had a Dutch name. I don't exactly know Dutch history that well but recently I saw videos on KZread that the Dutch were in India but didn't know they were in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Your video helps me understand that Dutch guy who looked South Asian.

@@vihangabimsara4716 I know. I met quite a few Da Silvas and I assumed they were from either Goa or Sri Lanka. But the Dutch name was new to me and on top of that he insisted he was Dutch not Sri Lankan!

@@chintham2861 Dutch descendants in Sei Lanka are called Dutch Burghers, They’re categorized as a distinct ethnic group under the constitution, The Dutch lineage comes from the Paternal side, Most people think those with Portuguese surnames are Burghers which is false, Almost all people with Portuguese surnames such as Perera, De Silva, Fernando etc are Sinhala people, Dutch Burghers have Dutch, German and French surnames few more famous Lankan Burghers are Michael Vandort, Pieter Kenueman, Michael Ondaatje, Davenal Whatmore,Vernon Prins, David Heyn, David De Kretser, Dominic Kellar etc

We did Galle Fort as a day trip, wish we could have stayed another day. Stunning views in and around the fortress. Went in the water for a dip. Well worth it. Hope you had a wonderful time. Hope you applied lots of sun screen. Sending you lots of love❤❤ from Harriet, Jim and Yuki

The thing with rice and curry is you can have unlimited combination of curries. For one meal, in a normal household they prepair at least 3 different curries (veg, non-veg, green leaves, lentil, appetiser). It is a wholesome meal. The flavour depends on the combination of curries. We know how to match food items and we have various ways of preparing one food item. It is an art only Sri Lankans can understand. It is not simple concept like fish and chips or English breakfast.

I like the way you speak English. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ from Srilanaka.

Wow.. That cocktail made out of local arrack was a "lit" I guess... 😮 Btw, treacle is like honey, made out of palm 🌴 tree sap.. You will be familiar with Dorado if you have ever eaten Mahi Mahi. Same fish. They don't come into your boat easily as they tend to be a hard fighting fish.

On KZread there was a lot of conflicts between the Portuguese and the Dutch in South Asia. In 8:23 It says "Portuguese" so it was the Portuguese in Sri Lanka not the Spanish. The Portuguese were first to sail around Africa and came to Asia. The Spanish wanted to find another route to India and Christopher Columbus, an Italian, got funding from Queen Isabella of Spain. Columbus "discovered America" even though there natives living there and thought the natives were Indians of India. Thus native Americans were named Indians.

I said it was the Portuguese who colonized Sri Lanka. I only referred to the Spaniards when talking about the walled city in Cartagena, Colombia.

@ chintham, Not really . Columbus was looking for an alternate route to the East Indies, the old name for the present day islands of Indonesia & Philippines. Hence the islands he landed on eventually became to be known as the West Indies. India had nothing to do with it.
