Bruce Trappleton ok here’s the deal. A lot of white travelers visiting Sri Lanka describes the native people as very friendly and engaging. That is completely true. Now this won’t be the case if the color of your skin was on par or darker than the native people. Why this is the case even in a non white country can be baffling for foreign people(specially white). Well it’s a complicated answer that cannot be explained in a youtube comment. Basically a lot of natives still believe white people to be of better social status than them

Love the vid I spent 3 months in Sri Lanka back in 1981 being a bit of a hippie lol Thought I had found paradise originally there for a month but extended my visa as well to 3 months. Spent most of my time in Hikkaduwa so many memories are flooding back thankyou .Cant wait for next vid.

Hey thanks for your reply I think you would have loved Hikkaduwa way back then in 1981 it was just a very quiet fishing village wish I had gone to Mirissa as well ..hope you have tried egg hoppers yum yum . I left just before that hideous civil war started and plunged paradise into turmoil …..any way enjoy your time in one of the most beautiful places on earth . Cheers mate.

Yo Miggy thanks bro! I got my visa extended until May - it was totally painless and took all of two hours, in the capital city Colombo. Honestly my biggest regret was not coming here sooner. SouthEast Asia ain't got nothin' on Sri Lanka. no plans to return to the States any time soon, so you know I'll be around :)
