SRAM is Shaking Up The MTB Industry! // Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon feat. SRAM Powertrain

Спорт

Fresh off the release of SRAM Powertrain, Nukeproof has unveiled their brand new Megawatt Carbon range. A bike born out of a collaboration between Nukeproof and SRAM, the Megawatt Carbon is a high-performance e-enduro bike, crafted from carbon and fine-tuned to fully harness the potential of SRAM's groundbreaking system.
Throughout the partnership, the Nukeproof engineering team had an insider view of the evolution of Powertrain, giving them access to the cutting-edge world of e-bike technology.
The result of that partnership is this - the Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon. Check. It. Out.

What is SRAM Powertrain?
SRAM’s Eagle Powertrain is a complete, wireless integrated EMTB system that brings together three of the company’s key technologies to produce a no-compromise smart system for performance ebikes. The three pieces of tech are;
- AXS wireless shifting
- Eagle Transmission
And the Powertrain drive system
Everything with this system is designed for simplicity, zero compromise and maximum fun, so you can focus on the trail. So;
- There’s no front derailleur
- No wires used for shifting
- And there’s no derailleur hanger either
It’s a super clean, versatile system which does away with the cockpit clutter of traditional e mountain bikes.
Control-wise up on the handlebar, Eagle Powertrain uses these AXS Pod controllers which you can assign commands to via the AXS app. You can toggle between Range and Rally power modes. Range for when you’re on a long ride, Rally for shorter blasts. You can also control your Rockshox Reverb AXS dropper seatpost, plus shift through your Eagle Transmission.
Another brilliant addition to the system, which again allows you to focus more time on the trail, is Eagle Powertrain Auto Shift - which senses and translates your input to automatically shift gears. You can of course override or switch off this feature as and when you want to.
Another cool feature is Powertrain Coast Shift, which allows the chainring to move freely from the cranks, enabling you to shift while coasting. This opens up the possibilities for on-the-fly shifting (whether pedaling or not) that puts you in total control.

    I'm not going to say it's not a great bike (it is), but how exactly is this "the future of emtb" when the SRAM motor is literally just a recase of the current Specialized motor (which has a pretty bad rep for reliability FYI)? Honestly, the only emtb motors that count as "the future" are the new Pinion MGU motor/gearbox and (to a lesser extent) lightweight motors like the TQ50 and Fazua Ride 60. Everyone else (Shimano, Bosche, Yamaha, Brose/Specialized/SRAM, etc) are the NOW of emtb, not the future.

    Reviews are not overly positive for the Pinion MGU motor/gearbox. The belt has too much give, motor is louder in gears 1-4, clunking in 2 gears 5 & 9, considered by some to be best suited for inexperienced riders or city riders

    @michaelgiorgio7447 I'm honestly not surprised, considering that it's a first-generation model, and everyone seems to like to use their customers to beta test these days. My point was more in relation to the original title of this video, calling the "new" SRAM motor "the future of emtb," and that thus new product is very much "the now" of emtb (it literally doesn't do a single thing new. Even its auto-shifting feature, the only notable difference between it and the current Specialized motor, was done by Shimano last year). I specifically mention the MGU because I firmly believe that motor/gearboxes like it are the future of full power emtbs, even if they still have a little ways to go.

    packaging on the brose motor is so bulky, needs a gearbox for that much girth

    That's not true. The motor itself is hardly larger than a Bosch CX Gen4 or Yamaha PW-X3. The problem is not the motor itself, but the motor cover and the fact that you pull the battery out downwards on the Nukeproof, which means the motor cover is much larger than the motor itself in order to protect the battery compartment. Because the motor and the battery compartment are right next to each other, it looks so beefy.

    @@FINNdeischgut i looked at this exact bike a few days ago and i was shocked at how large and bulky the motor department looked, it stood next to a cube action team with a bosch motor in it, the cube looked like an an SL bike compared to it. if i had a choice between this or the cube id of picked the cube, i was dissapointed especially with all the hype, reminded me of an early days rocky mountain powerplay
