On the 27th of June 2024, (WCR) ran their yearly Scarborough Spa Express from Carnforth to Scarborough via Woodlesford. The tour was pulled by Carnforth's workhorse of 2024, the Spam Cam, 34067 Tangmere. We head to Cononley just a few miles from Skipton, North Yorkshire where I take a bit of a gamble as a passenger service is due around the time Tangmere is due and it was just my luck that both were right on time! Sometimes it pays off but sometimes it doesn't!
Next, we head to York but once again, something happens that I've never seen a tour do before, instead of stopping at Platform 3 like the tours normally do, Tangmere pulled into Platform 3, causing a scurry of photographers to rush to the end of the platform to watch her depart. You get the usual's who have to be told to stay behind the yellow line, (There's always one) Despite the crowd, we see Tangmere set off for the seaside in Scarborough.
Finally, we return to Cononley for a second try and I stood on the platform Tangmere was due through so I couldn't be bowled twice! Arriving six minutes early, the tour flies through as it heads home to Carnforth, probably wishing the coaching situation can be resolved so other locomotives can do some work.
