“And that’s all there is too it,” says Beth. Best, simplest explanation of partial seams I’ve found in 1O years quilting. I had to watch it twice cz I couldn’t believe it was that simple , then I tried it and it really is.

The great thing about all this is that you don't have to have an expensive machine to make a beautiful quilt! Or tote, or baby blanket, or pot holders or...well, you get the picture! Many things are possible without an "AI" machine!

That's just not right. I have been sewing since I was 10. That's over almost 60 years. I have used every thing from a cheep Sears Kenmore I got for my 12th birthday, to my Mother's beautiful fancy Singer to an inexpensive Singer of my own to make my kids school clothes and so on and so forth. It isn't the machine that makes the sewer, it is the person behind the machine. Practice makes better but that's true with every thing. If you are a cook, I bet the first time you made gravy it may not have been perfect but if you have been cooking a long time I bet it is by now, The same way with sewing. Beth drives me crazy not ironing! For real! But I love watching her so I just pretend she does it to annoy me. She makes some beautiful things and she is so calm isn't she? I'm rapid fire all the time. My husband says I make him tired just watching me. I iron EVERYTHING! More than once. I think it makes my seams more percise, but hey, I get to sew my way and Beth gets to sew her way and you my friend can sew your way. We each be ourselves and all still be friends. Good luck with your sewing. Need help, ask me.

You can do it! I have 2 machines, one a heavy duty inexpensive singer and a janome. The expensive janome spends so much time in the shop because it's so sensitive. So I spend a lot of time on the Singer. There's something to be said for simple!

Beth that's an interesting block and it made you a fast quilt, Do you live out in the country on a homestead or a farm? I wish I had chosen to do that instead of picking a home in town but when I bought my house I was working as a Registered Nurse and had to drop my daughter off at school so it wouldn't have worken then. At least I get to have 3 chickens and a large garden! How has your weather been? It is Hot and Dry here. Today 103. Tomorrow more of the same. I have to go out and turn a box fan on for the chickens and maybe spray some water around the pen for them to help them cool off. Thank you for the video I appreciate your time and effort in making it for us.

Hello Beth, I like this square dance quilt. And the fact that depending on what color strips you use. It changes the color sequence of the square. But I must admit the beginning part was a little bit confusing? Because I could not really tell if you started sewing the 1 and 1/2 strip unit to the center square half way down that center square? And rotated the other ones and a half inch strips around the center square. A close-up of how you started it would have been helpful. Thanks for this video I will go back and watch it several times to see if I can catch where you first started sewing beginning and end spot.

I would make a paper mock-up of my idea and then, make a trial block out of scraps before doing anything with my jelly rolls. I once cut up a whole quilt's worth of fabric without making the sample block only to discover there was an error in the pattern I was using. I would also guess that you might want to go up to a 4 1/2" square in the middle to keep the same proportions/balance as Beth is using. Using your paper mock-up you can make it both ways and find which one you like the best.
