    Benchmade's prices over the last few years have gotten insane. I used to collect them about 20 years ago, gave several 705 models as Christmas gifts. Those days are gone, Spyderco is doing it better AND cheaper and they listen to their customer base for improvements and material options.

    The more I see the Enuff 2, the more I want one. I love the story about Sal hand carving that handle shape for a prototype. Sal is such a legend. Not that Eric isn't a legend, but there's just something magical about Sal.

    I remember seeing my first Spyderco in the mid to late 80s and thought it was an unsightly mess. Most all the knives in my area were Bucks or Case. The first time I actually handled and used a Spyderco I immediately got the appeal. I think I own more Spyderco’s than any other in my collection now and am excited to add more. I really hope they do more than just the initial sprint run of the Shaman & PM2 cause they’re gonna go even faster than the blink and miss it release of the Manix.

    I'm a recreational scuba diver and I have the Enuff in the Salt series with a serrated blade. The knife has been on about 140 dives and has performed well. Indeed, other Divemasters have asked to see the knife and have liked the knife. Well done.

    I've bought more than my share of Spydercos over the last year or so. Still, the sharpest knife out of the box I've EVER had is the uncoated T-Rex Native 5 I ordered from GPK last year. I never thought I'd enjoy FRN scales but this knife is a LWT beast, easy to carry and holds its edge so well I'm still rocking the factory edge - and all at an amazingly affordable price.

    Never been a big fan of Spyderco, although I recently purchased a Street Beat (from GPKnives) and am interested in how they are being more innovative, and offering some very nice new fixed blades, and would like to see them offer even more.

    School me. Why do dishwashers tear up knives?

  • @tacticalcenter8658

    @tacticalcenter8658

    Heat from the dishwater will ruin the temper of the heat treat snd can also cause rust depending on the composition of the steel etc.

  • @notme3686

    The water bangs the knife around into other things dulling the blade. The heat shouldn't be an issue. Tempering isn't really affected by water less than 250 degrees, of course those steels are basic carbon with really low temp ranges. Tool steels and a lot of high end stainless have to get pretty hot, like 500-1000 degrees to damage a temper. To heat treat some of these steels go up to 1500 or 2000 degrees. You might mess the handles up by warping but any knife allowed in a kitchen according to commercial regulations won't have that issue. Water spots are definitely an issue with anything less than a pretty high stainless steel. Simple carbon steels will easily rust if you water sitting on it for even 10 minutes.

    The pm2 scales are flat. The shaman scales are rounded. The compression locks dont like rounded areas. Spyderco please modify that area on the shaman to be like the pm2 around the compression lock. The nub also hits you on the close. Also stop putting the compression lock on everything. Its horrible on the kapara for example. The area the lock is in, is narrow and rounded and slick. Why design something so poorly? You should know better. Make it a backlock or design it better with flatter scales in the lock area with milling or peelply and or a little more purchase area. The other issue with the compression lock is on the close it always bounces up and doesn't always 100% close successfully. Thats really terrible. It should close and not bounce up.

  • @allemander

    Pivot adjustment to reduce bounce.

  • @ryspace

    @ryspace

    Easy to avoid bounce out on the Shaman with practice and it is a non-issue for me on other comp lock Spydies. The smooth, round G10 certainly isn’t my cup of tea either, but with flatter aftermarket scales the Shaman is damn near perfect for when I want a heavier blade stock knife than my Manixs

    If only Spyderco knives had "sharpen choils"....they'd sell so many MORE knives ....e.g. the Para 3, PM2, Masnix 2, Shasman....etc. REDO their blade "philosophy". The recasso's and nubs get in the way of use and sharpening....OBVIOUSLY...heh... And, Spyderco needs to offer their knives with Sheepsfoot blades....

  • @ryspace

    @ryspace

    Жыл бұрын

    I disagree. I like them the way they are. It’s easy to add a sharpening choil with a file or dremel in 40 seconds, but it would be a lot harder to remove one for people that don’t like them. The Shaman is the only model where the nub gets in the way, but once you get used to it you can flick it closed without hitting your finger. They do offer knives with sheepsfoot blades, I own several of them.
