The black PM2 salt has me excited. Particularly for forward deployed military, this knife can now be carried on the body, rain or shine, for days on end without any major maintenance needed. Well heat-treated magnacut will withstand any reasonable knife use in the field and continue to work for you.

Spyderco makes great knives and the Paramilitary 2 is one of them, but if this is the most innovative knife in 2024, the knife industry is heading in the wrong direction. This feels more like a Hollywood lifetime achievement award than an innovation award. I heard it was a close battle between the Paramilitary 2 and the new Hinderer with the use of the hollow grind for the 1st time. The judges had a difficult time trying to determine which was more innovative.

The Knife industry is a long way down the wrong path now. The ridiculous amount of cheap Chinese knives that have flooded the market over the last few years are the reason. Everyone keeps eating them up so I dont see it changing anytime soon either.

Yes, changing the grind or the steel on a knife is not innovation. I think it would be better to not hand out the award if they can't find anything worthy of it.

Spyderco are consistently bringing out the absolute bleeding edge steel options while other companies are still banging out AUS steels and their premium options are S30/35VN.

Spyderco won the Blade Magazine award at Blade Show for "Most Innovative American Design" with their Salt Paramilitary 2🤔 I honestly don't understand how a Paramilitary 2 which is a knife designs that's been around since 2010, with magnacut a blade steel that's been around for almost three years now can win this award🤷‍♂️ How the hell is it innovative to just change the blade steel on an existing knife design and slightly change the texturing of its handle🤔 So Blade Magazine is telling us that no other American production knife company or American custom knife make made any knife designs that were more innovative than the Spyderco Salt Paramilitary 2🤔 Giving the Spyderco Salt Paramilitary 2 this award is insulting to all American knife makers!!!!!

Making a near totally corrosion proof knife isn't just slapping a highly corrosion resistant blade on a knife and calling it a day. There's a lot more to it than that. Galvanic corrosion is no joke and will ruin things quickly.
