Based on where things stand now, I expect Reed to go at 3, SA picks Castle at 4. At 8, having picked a defensive guard at 4, SA will look for a wing with strong offense and passable defense (ie, not a defensive liability or could develop into a better defensive player over time)

My biggest issue with your board is Topic at 3. He has 2 injuries to the same knee. Even more worrying, the second injury seems to be a non contact injury. That would put him at 4 or even 5.

Sheppard is gonna be a great player in the league. Would love to have him on the Spurs.

There’s a lot of talk (including Zach Lowe) on Garland from Cleveland maybe being available for trade this summer. I’d much rather have Garland who is 24 than anyone point guard in this year’s draft. What is the max picks you would trade for garland? Do you even want garland on spurs? I would trade at least 1 of this years picks and most likely both of them as well as maybe another first rounder for garland (future).

Heard we might get Tidjane Salaun(at 8) since his Wemby friend.

I believe the spurs draft is very simple. If risacher falls it’s him @ 4. That’s most likely not happening tho so then the next option is castle/topic. Even if reed is there @ 4, spurs still pick castle/topic. Personally based on front office drafting, it should be castle because even if he dosent work @ pg, u can still use him @ the 2 or 3. Topic dosent pan out 4 whatever reason then there’s no other position 4 him + his injuries. Castle is the safest pick but if they want an ACTUAL pg then topic. @ 8 regardless they have 2 get a shooter with offensive upside so I personally think knecht is a lock 4 the spurs @ that pick.

I really feel like Reed Sheppard is not going to translate quite as well as people are hoping. His defence is overrated. Yeah he gets steals and blocks and his off ball defence is good, but his on ball is not. And historically volume is more of an indicator than percentage when it comes to 3pt shooting translating to the NBA. I do think he's going to be fine, and I'd grab him at 8, but I wouldn't take him at 4.

why people love Castle is beyond me no shot, is not super athletic, lacks great passing skills, and says he won't try out for a team if he is not a starting point guard before even getting drafted how is this Spurs like. He is solid on defense but analytics say he is not great at that either, jack of all trades master of none PASS.

Respectfully, you've flip-flopped more than a flounder. If the draft was a marriage, you'd have racked up 3 or 4 divorces. Reed's defense won't translate to the NBA nearly as high as it was in college. Castle's defense will translate, and defense wins championships.

I probably would have racked up that many divorces by now. 😂 Some of the thoughts I had earlier in the process about certain guys have changed with more research is the best way I can put it lol. I believe in Reed's defense translating, but I understand your logic and concerns and I'd agree Castle is the safer bet defensively.
