It's well written because as smart as Rick is, he is still human. Automatically believe what the guy says because he's in a tense situation. A slip of mental judgement that is actually believable. Because the doctor is really good with words in general. You can argue he's better than Rick in that department.

I noticed that on a rewatch! Smart of them!

I love the fact that the doctor is on the defensive THE WHOLE TIME!!! Perfectly matches his character.

I'm so glad Doctor won. Though I won't lie, they _nailed_ Rick's and Doc's impression. The whole fight felt like a crossover, which completely aligns with The Doctor's pacifist nature. Also, I wonder if you missed it, but there's an out of order Arcade machine besides the Bill one, labelled 'Columbo The Kira Files' at (15:30).

Before this my favorite death battle was saitama vs popeye, but this takes the cake from the clean animations, to the references, to the logic behind both of them, this death battle is my new favorite

The Doctor turned it around on Rick in the end, Classic Doctor.😌

While the voice actor for Rick did sound a bit young he still captured his personality really well, and the one for the Doctor on point. I guess my only nit-pick is that I would’ve loved to see more of their gadgets, maybe the fight could’ve been just a bit longer, and that scene where the Doctor is looking around at all the Ricks confused then looks as if he’s seen the cause, but I didn’t really understand what he was looking at. Other than that, literally everything was amazing.

Honestly, so glad I remembered to turn notifs on after I subbed. That little bit in the beginning and at the end was great. Could really tell just how much you loved the matchup and it was really great to see how much you loved the final product. God, this season has been great. Hopefully the last two keep up the quality, and if the DB team is to be trusted, they're definitely going to.

I fuck with Rick vs. The Doctor.

They're using Infinite Frontiers Superman and Dragon Ball Heroes/Xenoverse Goku. These are the strongest versions of both characters, so this will also shut down any potential of this happening for a 4th time.

Just subbed, GREAT reaction mate! Love how much of a deep look you took both into the matchup, production behind it and the battle itself! Gotta admit I was a tad disappointed at first that it didnt evolve into a cosmic Citadel Of Ricks vs All Doctors war like I saw it being hyped up as, but I appreciate it much more thanks to how much they nailed these characters, be it small things like Rick caring for Morty, Doc hesitating on using the D-Gun, or how they managed to PERFECTLY portray the latter as the only character in DB history to never land a SINGLE blow, just evading, disharming and outsmarting! I couldnt think of a more fitting character to give that honor to, he really was the ultimate pacifist :) (they flirted with the idea with Silver Surfer, but they now fully commited and it was great!)

Had pretty much the same reaction as you when they revealed the next episode.

Top quality video! That opening drew me right in; really can feel your passion regarding this match-up.

Regarding the next time, they're using Heroes Goku, which makes the debate closer, but it's more so to see how it'd go with a modern twist to a legacy episode just like what they did with Mario vs Sonic, now I don't think it's great for the rematch again, but I know with how episodes are coming out nowadays I know it's going to be a spectacle even if we kinda know how it'll more than likely go, or maybe I'm just being too hopeful in the middle of the burn out from this debate

Yeah, hopefully after this we probably would never get a 4, they'll give the characters the proper care and respect, I'm sure many will love it and would prefer over the original and the other one, best of all they'll give it a proper closure compared to the second fight and Goku will be the first character to die 3 times to the same person and 4 times overall in the entire show. I do hope Death Battle gives dragon ball a break for a bit

How could Rick beat someone who could see evrey possible future? To make matters worse he has probability manipulation. He's in character in a death battle-something last episode they said they couldnt do its a death battle? Its a stretch its a massive mismatch that they are saying is closer to not piss of rick and morty fans.

I wish they covered the difference in philosophy between the two, but It was still really cool.

I forgot to mention, but the Doctor was such a goon in this battle.

Only complaint I have about the fight is that I wish they would've somehow brought in all the doctors to finish off Rick at the end. More of a missed opportunity than a complaint tho

honestly goku vs superman 3 is just going to be reverse flash vs goku black all over again. like 1 dc universe is 76,923,076.92 times larger than U7. where superman busted at least 52 of them in one go. making him at least able to bust U7 4,000,000,000 times over.

I’m also happy that the 10th doctor stuck by his pacifist roots…. The reason why I say he’s 10th is because he’s got 10s tardis sonic and exterior … not 14s sonic or tardis or exterior ….. but again happy he stuck by his pacifist roots

It’s pretty in character for goku to ONCE AGAIN challenge Superman. I’ll give them that.

I'm not familiar with The Doctor all that much, and I don't mind that Rick lost, but while I really liked this Death Battle episode, there are a couple of things that bother me. The first thing is that in The Doctors analysis they say that if he is killed during his regeneration, then that ends it permanently(I assumed that meant he permanently dies), but they show Rick literally bursting out of his chest Alien style here and it didn't kill him. Why didn't that kill The Doctor? The second thing is the fact that Rick appeared as a ghost at the end. If he was erased from ever existing then by that logic he shouldn't even be there as a ghost cause he never existed in the first place for a ghost to come from. Also, shouldn't that mean that Morty shouldn't be there either since Rick was his grandfather, which means that he couldn't have had Beth and she couldn't have had Morty? I'm not understanding these rules.

To answer the first one, they also explained how strong The Doctor's regeneration is, in that he can regrow limbs almost instantly. They also explained that he's durable enough to survive things that would instantly disintegrate a human being. What happened is that The Doctor's durability let him survive Rick's chestburst, and his regeneration was strong enough to counter the worst of the damage it caused. And that wasn't Rick's ghost, that was the ship AI that looks like Rick.

See, I just assumed it would of killed him because the clip they showed while discussing his regeneration was him being shot by what looked like just a little lazer gun while regenerating and that stopping it. Now like I said, I'm not that familiar with Doctor Who so I feel like the context might be lost for me here but I just thought "if a little laser could finish him and look like it barely left a mark on him then Rick literally burst from his chest surely would". Also, it being an ai Rick still doesn't work in my mind. Rick was erased from existence, he now never existed in the first place. There wouldn't be an ai of him if he never existed. Probably just inconsistent sci-fi rules at play here im guessing.

It was actually the Teselecta (a shapeshifting spaceship/time travel machine/android hybrid) controlled by The Doctor so he could fake his death to trick a prophecy.

i mean Goku got Ultra Instinct, Superman can't beat that and anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong, because u can't beat what u can't hit, it's the same reason why Goku beats Saitama. so yea that's why they are doing part 3 i guess.

I think the biggest difference is Rick is literally the smartest being in his universe by design, and the Doctor isn't, meaning the Doctor has to actually TRY in order to not die.
