Sorry about the delayed response. Yeah iv always had a soft spot for the micro range of RCs and that's what got me back into boats, big is fun but the micros are hilarious😆🤘

That is a slick little creation, why no reverse though? Would it be easy enough to have? I know the stock jet jam can do a little bit of reverse which has similar propulsion to that one stock.. I want to set one up just like yours for some little creeks and stuff.

Thanks mate👍 I think the esc does have reverse but it may be disarmed, can probably be changed in the setup or with a program card. And yes, it's a perfect little jet boat for creeks and streams👌

Going to need water cooling. I 3D printed up something similar that i run 4s on. They heat up fast enclosed. These little go fast boats are tons of fun🎉!

Yes I have had water cooling on the esc for a long time now and I have run it on 4s, didn't heat up at all but it physically couldn't pump the amount of water through the tiny jet duct on 4s so it just cavitates and is slower than 3s😅 3s is insane enough though and yeah the motor stays very cool👌

@rccrazy I'm running a mjet30 and mjet35 super sprint on 4s with a 3660 2150kv. Almost starts cavitating. Any smaller pump and yep 3s or lighter. Need to put up some vids I guess. Just plain fun.

Thank you🙂 I made a seal out of very thin craft foam, cut and shape to fit inside the little groove the canopy sits in. You could also just use Vaseline or grease if your not worried about a the mess😅

Thank you very much mate🤘😁 If your not looking to spend too much I pretty much always recommend DumboRC systems, find them everywhere online, most places less than $70aud with a receiver and you can bind basically as many receivers as you want to a single controller👌 If your looking more high end brands then I couldn't really help as I use Spektrum and I don't think they are very popular these days😅

We are only using cheap FPV systems atm for both high speed boats and 1m class SailBoats and its hard finding analogue radio reviews for boats so I'll order a couple and see how we go. I didn't do a specific mod/upgrade video but it's literally just replacing the stock electronics with a brushless kit of your choice. You will NEED a brushless motor, brushless esc, a 3 wire servo that fits and a proper radio system(controller and receiver) DumboRC X6FG radio system is the cheapest best option in my opinion. The hardest part is getting the old motor out and installing a new one, not much room in the hull

A little water gets in mine aswell but it's not really an issue. But the thing your talking about is just craft foam, I just cut it out to fit the seal area.

What motor and esc did you use? Also did the motor go right in with no mods and without having to change the shaft coupling?

What's that yellow seal you put on? Mine leaks like crazy. Just ordered my brushless setup, running 3s on stock electronics for now, 🤞 till it cooks it. Actually doesn't need to be any faster but hey.

Oh wow your running 3s on the stock system, sweet😃 I was too scared it would cook straight away😆 The yellow stuff is like arts and crafts foam sheets but it kind of just squashes the original foam down more creating a tighter seal. It seems to work for mine so it's worth a shot🤞👍

I don't think I tested it stock on 3s🤔 I honestly can't remember, sorry😕 But I'm surprised they run 3s stock at all as most I've tried failed straight away or keep cutting out from over voltage protection. Maybe don't run 3s until you know or have all your upgrades😅 Sorry again!

No issues with temperature and the only SprintJet specific water cooling system is the 3D printed parts from Sundogz Adventures, Shapeways, quite expensive mainly shipping but definitely worth it👌 Take a look at this video for the water cooling system👇 kzread.info/dash/bejne/moWm2qaIkduzdrw.html

This is the only brushless motor and esc iv tried in this boat but it works extremely well👌 I need bigger 3s lipos though, need more weight.

Is there any way you can use the stock transmitter and receiver?

The only think you could do if you wanted to keep the stock radio system is different brushed motors or use good 2s lipos. If you want brushless you need to change everything.

@@rccrazy I was just wondering because it takes a 180 size can motor stock sort of like the mini z cars. I know the mini Z brushless system would fit right in but it's expensive. And the water cooling block is set up for the 180 type of design motor that has a flat two sides

Ok yes, well if you wanted to use something like this setup you could but just get a little lower kv motor and you won't have to use water cooling at all especially if you just stick to 2s. You could also use 2040 size motors, would fit much easier but may need cooling being smaller. Whatever size you got try and stay under say 4200kv and you should be good. Just for reference, if your esc is over spec and is 3-4s capable and like 30-40a, running max 3s with these little motors you wouldn't need cooling on the esc either really👌

I just bought a sprint jet and im trying to brushless convert it but idk how the top part of the hull comes off 🤣

I assume you don't mean the door with the latch. If you mean actually split the hull then I don't think you can, im pretty sure it's glued together.

Yeah you need to get some weight back further and buy that upgraded nozzle with a water spigot and a ride plate. The ride plate will stop it from porpousing

Thanks👍 Yeah im not very familiar with boats but I have played around with ride plates on other boats. Iv found a duel plate system works well because you don't loose as much steering as the plates are slightly angled and skims very smooth on top of the water. The nozzle seems ok for this little thing, on 3s it's nuts😅 but I could probably make carbon plates myself so I'll give it a go asap👌 Thanks again!

@@rccrazy no problem at all. If you look up the boat on youtube and 3D printed ride ppate and nozzle theres a video where he mentions the name. I tune and repair full sized boats and jet skis for racing. So i know alot about the physics of parts and the necessities for any scale water craft.

Ah, I think you mean cavitation😅 But no mine doesn't, as long as the inlet is under water it should be fine, maybe you need more weight in it.

@@rccrazy the stuff you used in the vid is more like a liquid rubber. Conformal coating is a clear liquid silicone made specifically fornwaterproofing electronics.

Ok yeah I think iv seen it on factory RXs, I guess there is specific made sealant for that exact application but this stuff was all I could find at the time. I may aswell use it now🤦 it works😅✌

@@rccrazy i feel that type of coating you used might be the reason for the short range, and poor receiver performance. It needs to be electronics specific, so there is no conductivity or interfere created.

It is electric specific, just a bad radio system. I'm using a different rx/tx now and it's all good

2s would've been a 600mah 20c I believe and the 3s was a BetaFPV 450mah 75c

Would what work in the 917? Sorry I've made a lot of changes to this boat. If you mean use a 3s lipo then I don't know I never ran mine on 3s, I wouldn't think so though, not stock.

Yes you could upgrade to brushless, I think you will need a new radio system aswell (controller and receiver) The stator and other mods may be compatible but I never checked or fitted any on the 917 sorry.

Motor yes, impeller yes, actually impeller tube I think yes but it looks like you would have to cut it out as it's glued onto the inner hull. Only thing preventing me from changing the JetJam impeller.

Heat is not a good idea, it's not held on with hot glue it's more like gap filler or silicone so heat won't effect it but you may deform the hull attempting it.

I believe they are discontinued now sorry. But any 3s from like 300mah to 600mah should fit just check measurements if available before buying.

Will only be Australian links if you want Australian links. But seriously all you need to do is google search "3s 400mah" or whatever mah you need(I suggest 400 or 450) and you will find heaps of options, c rating doesn't really matter as most if not all are false anyway, Aliexpress and Banggood always have lots.

Theres a company that will print you a new nozzle that has a water fitting and ride plate if you dont have a 3d printer.
