One of the best of all time and my personal favorite paddler! His technique hasn't been beat in years and I think he has a chance to take 3 Olympic Golds for the 1000m.

I'm a dragon boat and OC canoe paddler. I'm curious how this guy doesn't blow out his top hand shoulder. With the length of that paddle his top hand starts the power phase of driving straight down, but his shoulder looks only supported by his rotor cuff muscles which is an extremely vulnerable position. In dragon boat and especially OC (outrigger canoe) the paddles are shorter and the power phase starts with the top hand just a little above horizontal at most which protects the shoulder.

The power phase should actually begin with the outside lat - as he does here. The inside arm then transfers power to the rest of the stroke. Doing it in reverse risks shoulder injuries.

Yeah it’s a delicate timing but the first rip into the water is with the lat and core then the top shoulder gets engaged to speed it up

... a concrete riser - apparently, they caught it in the offseason. In addition, spurt is not his song (what was it like at the 200 Olympiad?, it seems, the last one in the 2nd final?!). So there is nothing to learn here...🙁☹😥

Ваще ни в дугу, стояк конкретный - видимо, в межсезонье подловили. Кроме того, спурт - не его песня (каким он был на олимпиаде на 200 ?, кажись , последним во 2 финале ?!) . Так что поучиться здесь нечему... 🙁
