In todays video we followup with James, who like a lot of you wants golf green grass. On the last visit we diagnosed his lawn and found he had a ton of lawn debris and sprinkler coverage issue. These are our 7 day results.
We began by removing a ton of lawn debris that was prohibiting new grass growth. Then we water cup tested his sprinklers. We found several coverage issues that we were unable to fix due to the original installation that lacked proper head spacing. A few areas had too many heads that created a pressure issues.
Considering jame's ultimate goal of having a grass area that is golf green proper water coverage will count for 80% to 90% of our success. My recommendation was to install Irrigreen sprinkler heads that are to considered to be the most precise water irrigation system ever made. With its digital mapping system it quiet literally prints the water evenly where you tell it to.
System Requirements:
1. Irrigation Requirements
2. Constant Pressure (40-80 PSI)
3. Good Flow (8+ GPM)
4. Clean Water
5. 1" PVC Piping
6. Head Spacing Requirements for uniform water distribution
No greater than 30' from edge of lawn
No greater than 60' between sprinkler heads
7. Strong Internet Connectivity via Wi-Fi
8. Proper Power (110-210v AC)
On a Well?
- Constant pressure pump or cycle stop valve with a small tank
- Clean water - 100 mesh/150 micron filter

Irrigreen looks great. But when I called them they didn't have any installers in Southern Indiana. Wanted to sell everything to me to install myself. Hope sometime in the future there are more installers for this product.

Big solution for a big area. Once the AI system is integrated, sounds like it will be hands off. Do you think AI watering systems for beyond home-gamer areas will ever have water depth sensors? (Great interaction with the guy. Bet he was pissed about being sold an inadequate system!)

It's a non intelligent ai system, meaning It does what we tell it to. The coolest part about it is instead of telling it. How much time you want to water per week, You tell it how many inches of water per week and specify the boundaries. The updates people are referring to, including myself, are having partial areas in a specific zone that you can control Different amounts of water. This comes in super handy in the situation that I faced, but also for people who have different soil types in one zone. it doesn't happen often, but it does happen

@@jefferyw4867 with its current design it requires a 1" pipe from the manufacturers recommendation. the head itself needs 40 to 80psi to push enough volume. I wouldn't recommend this setup if you cannot get an active 60psi through the line. hope that helps.

it would have been difficult to salvage the old system. The majority of the problem was the gpm of the heads installed was way to high, so the pressure was very low. with a slight design change in the south west corner and using hunter mp heads we could have gotten it. but everything considered it would have been close to $1500 to get it done correctly and it doesn't solve the issue of water getting on all his new concrete. so he figured he'd take his losses and go this route.

Irrigreen has a nice product but their customer service is terrible. Tried multiple times to get real information on getting it for my lawn and they would never follow through on their callbacks. My neighbor ended up getting it and has had few issues with it and needing parts replaced. They really need to sell the idea to Hunter or one of the big companies so it can get to the next step. They aren't equip to do volume sales and installs which is sad with such a good idea.

@PestandLawnGinja Well done, very professional. Definitely a huge improvement! I wanted to ask some questions about these sprinklers. What's the minimum and maximum radius of these heads? Also, how well do they handle long distances? For instance, if I were to do a lawn renovation, topdress, and overseed, would these sprinklers disturb the seed and soil over long distances? I can imagine they might wash away the seed at close range which isn't a big deal I could always use a plugger. Overall, it seems like a fantastic piece of technology. It definitely saves a lot of work with trenching, laying pipe, laying wire, and installing valves and valve boxes.

  • @pestandlawnginja

@@LegendaryLawnCare89 they're rated 25 to 30ft from the head itself. I found with a psi of 60 it sprays about 27ft. psi of 80 it will do 31ft. I place the heads no longer than 27ft in case of pressure issues. All super valid questions. I haven't tried to seed with this system since I've had it. but..... The droplet sizes are big and i would anticipate some movement and some disruption. how much..... I'm not entirely sure yet. The close range vs further out isn't as big of a deal as it appears on camera. they've done a fantastic job to ensure pressure and volume stays equal from the closest to the largest throw. What i'm most excited about is the amount of water i'm saving by not watering the sidewalks and drive ways.

The Irrigreen system is great but it is super overpriced. If you price the unit and go to the checkout window they are charging $750 for a 3 year software, monitor, weather data which is ridiculous. I pay $0 for the monitor system of my Enphase microinverters for my solar system and it captures and saves all my data and monitors the system and I had it for over 7 years. Also, Tesla charges me $99 a year for "premium connectivity" which gives me internet and I can watch Netflix, Hulu, Prime etc, access to premium music apps, play off line games and online games, traffic data, autopilot updates which actually AI neuro-nets and free software updates. Irrigreen needs to remote that charge and leave the controller at $820 by itself. To add the Oto Sprinklers above ground offers the same monitoring, weather data and pressure control adjustments for free with the so call "AI".
