Spring Tulip Watercolor Painting Tutorial
Step by step instruction on how to paint a Tulip flower using watercolor paints. One hour lesson for older kids, teens and adults. Very fun and colorful.
Required Materials:
• Reference photo
• Pencil and eraser
• Watercolor paper (I recommend paper that is 100% cotton and acid free.)
• Two cups of water
• Watercolor paint
• Paint palette
• Watercolor brush
(Buy the best brush you can afford. A large round #10 brush is a great starter brush.)
• Paper towel
• Scrap piece of watercolor paper
Optional Materials:
• Ball point pen
• Masking fluid
• Brush with silicone tip (To apply masking fluid.)
• Bar of soap (I use Masters Brush Cleaner)
• Kitchen sponge
• Painters tape
• Waterproof paper surface (I recommend a cheap plastic cutting board.)
• Ruler
• Salt
• Eye dropper
• Metalic silver paint

Thank you so much for the information you provide. Everything is covered and most artists do not do this, certainly not for free or even if you pay! It's lovely and really helpful for those who are learning. Again, thanks!
Very pretty tulip. So nice to show your process in so much detail.
Thank you so much. I am just starting with watercolor and I learned some very important lessons watching this video.

Watching you paint was a wonderful experience for me. I appreciate your finite attention to detail and your ability to visualize and judge just what the medium is about to do. You have honed your craft and exhibited your talent. Thanks for sharing. PAM
This lesson was so enlightening. The way you blend the colors really adds dimension I have been unable to achieve previously. Thank you kindly for sharing your expertise with us.

Brilliant :))
Like that I can follow and figure it out in a real painting as it makes more sense than gathering knowledge yet not seeing how it is to be applied realistically.
Very nice watercolor work 👍

Best tutorial I’ve seen!
👍👌👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
How do you prepare your paint ? Lots of water then paint in your pallet love your work x
Thank you for sharing, especially the background technique. May I know 1) was the paper still wet throughout the time you paint the background? 2) What paper did you use to last wet so long? 3) my paper dry out in seconds, how do I continue ?
Your work is so beautiful! May I ask how long it took for your background to dry before you started the tulip?

Thank you Barbara, that's such a kind compliment. It took about ten minutes. I usually keep a blow-dryer handy, to speed things up. 😁👍

🤣 yes it was. I was recording in my classroom. It's good for my students to know, that they don't need to break the bank to start painting. 😁❤️
Question: when you say "m /aw/ve" colour, do you mean m/oo/ve/?I've never heard it pronounced this way. I'm Canadian and I'm not trying to be critical, just trying to clarify. Again, terrific video. Thank you!
You mention tracing a reference photo. May I ask how to get the reference photo?

Did you find the reference photo?
Where are your current videos?
😂🎉😢😮😅😊
Why is there. no reference photo. why do something in this much detail as a tutorial and find no reference photo?
it takes too long to paint and not cost efficient

Art isn't about the time it takes or the cost effectiveness.
Hi!! Beautiful tutorial and painting!!! Where would we find your reference tulip for us to use?
