Norway, with its culture closely linked to nature, sees in natural elements many symbols for the spring season. One important sign of spring for Norwegians is, for example, the arrival of the cuckoo. This grey and variegated bird has a special place in different Norwegian traditional songs and verses, and several instrumental tunes have also been named after it.
