Spring Steam Spectacular Gala: West Somerset Railway - 2024

A short trip to the West Somerset Railway, for the Spring Steam Spectacular. With the price of coal increasing dramatically over the years, steam galas have become all the more rarer. However, this didn't deter the West Somerset Railway from having an intensive spring steam gala. Visitors include 61306 'Mayflower', 1054 'Coal Tank', No.6695, 1873 'Jessie', 7828 'Odney Manor', No.9351 and No.9466. No. 2807 was unable to attend, so was substituted by 6990 'Witherslack Hall'. 34046 'Braunton' is also spotted returning from Kingswear with the English Riviera Express. Beautiful photography, excellent choice of vantage points, no talking, no music, just the sights and sounds of those gorgeous machines. I could almost smell them! Today I did something I've never done before - I freeze framed a train video and took down a train number, 61306 'Mayflower' - what a beautiful thing. So now I have become a train spotter. Somerset looks really good. Hope it's still as English as it should be. I became aware of this steam weekend through the live webcam of the Blue anchor station, which I have had on for almost two days now. Thank you for taking the time to capture and upload this content. One has subscribed. And hello to you from Ireland....
