Spring on the Dream Stream (South Platte River)

Before the nationwide lockdown, Kyle and I were able to take an early spring fly fishing trip on the South Platte River's Dream Stream in search of a variety of trout.

Bringing back memories. Fished the S. Platte -Dream Stream section for about 70 days in 2000. Fish were big and beautiful. Watched a good friend land a 32" cuttbow one day. Great video. Your breathing cracked me up.

Tried fly fishing for the first time here yesterday, nothing except two lost (small) fish in 3 hours before I switched to spinning gear and caught 3 fish (biggest was a 14" rainbow) in my last 2 hours. Meanwhile, I passed a guy in a lawn chair with a zebco and a crappie jig who said he caught 20 fish, with several 4 pounders. Oh man have I been going at it wrong lol

If you could at the end of your video have tips of type of fly and tippet to use, that would be helpful for a beginner. I am a U.S. Army Veteran and I really enjoy your videos.

You guys did great there! Me not so much but didn't skunk either. My buddy got a Kokanee there. It was the only fish he caught that day. Clouds of BWO's and not a single riser. Fished Spinney a few times. Wow incredible. Had 3x breakoffs. Ice cold beers at cimmeron trading post.

Yes! Another great episode from you guys! I really enjoy these. What a beautiful day out too. The fish in there are simply brutes that put up one hell of a fight a few years ago before I started filming I would go out there once a week and felt like I was in heaven everytime. What lb line are you using if you don’t mind me asking?

Great video. So beautiful. I will be in Colorado in late April and just wondering what set up you recommend? I'm a beginner but a very experienced "regular" fisherman. Also, is fly fishing any good in late April?
