It is very tough making friends as you get older, especially if you don't have kids. And, as you said, since we are all more isolated and cautious of one another. You are very good at this and would be perfect on a talk show! Love your chats and your makeup recs!

I too agree that making friends as we age is much more difficult especially if you’re already introverted and given how cautious we are as a people now certainly doesn’t help. I was out for lunch ages ago with my mum at Valentina in Weybridge and I saw you in there. I wanted to say hello, but also felt too shy and didn’t want to be intrusive and a bit of a weirdo and say ‘hello I watch your KZread channel’, especially as you were with someone too. I have lived in Spain for several years, at the beginning I would never have worn a bikini, full bather and cover up, you watch Spanish ladies of all ages, shapes and sizes, no one gives a toss about wobbly bits etc. I now wear a bikini always, I am perfectly happy with it

I’m so glad its not just me who struggles with the friend thing…. I have one very dear friend, but we both work full time and i have a family and she doesnt, we meet up as much as we can, but i sometimes envy people who have a group of friends and often feel a bit left out of the mum friends group at school. You have brought up a vital and extremely relevant issue regarding loneliness Shaz, and more needs to be said about it. Im 56 in a few weeks and I also dont have any real friends Shaz. Yes, I have work colleagues and a couple of freinds that i occasionally see for a coffee....but no real confidante or anyone to go away for a girls weekend or have shopping trips with. Its ironic really because I had a group of very close girlfriends back in England and i often wonder as I'm getting older what my life would have been like if I'd stayed in England .....

I can resonate with everything you’ve said. I think it’s harder as you get older and I do think it’s hard in the south (you sound like you’re a fellow southerner) I am always arranging everything with my friends. If I didn’t we’d never see each other. In a group of friends there’s normally one person who does all the organising 😂 you seem lovely, a lot of the time it’s not us, it’s just the circumstances we find ourselves in.
