Spring is here in the South Island! Busy day getting our ducks in a row.

Calving is in full swing, shifting ewes and lambs onto better grass and vaccinating heifers all in one day.

People wonder why farmers are fit !! Visiting south island a few years back we came accross cattle sheep and deer crossing main roads many times and my reaction was to always offer to help and not be impatient, mind I was brought up on a farm. Keep the vids coming, always enjoy watching.

That's an awesome idea- a mustering drone, with dog bark, and flashing lights that form a snapping mouth!

when you have the heifers in the race trim there tails ,it makes it cleaner and they are less like a mucky bull whip. i know only to well the struggle of the calf that has not suckled, keep up the good work and vids.

We have a drone on our place to find the stock. Not because our place is big, but the grass was 6 ft tall in places when we first bought it. Couldn’t find them otherwise.

Heifers can be a pain. It never ceases to amaze me when heifer and calf are in a 10ft x 15ft pen and she manages to ignore the calf.

Bit of a different question, just curious about your Deutz tractor, how much horsepower and what are the pros and cons, would you buy another one ?? Just trying to figure out the different brands, farming similar stock in Manawatu, cheers Andrew

I love our one, its been great, its a 150 so a bit big but means we can pull loaded trailers up and down the steep tracks. Its just like any machinery, its only as good as your local back up and service. Our Local power farming is quite good. I would defiantly go with another one, just have to weigh up price per HP and deals at the time.
