Midwesterner here and I agree with the "healthy respect" attitude. We usually watch from the porch (sirens or not), but run to the basement when it gets that super weird vibe outside or I see a funnel cloud. I'm more terrified of being in my car when a bad storm hits, probably from news stories I've seen locally when folks get trapped out in it. Having a basement is such a blessing and for sure contributes to my porch watching!

This is us too! We don’t have a basement at the moment so we wait till the last minute then head towards the bathroom if needed (no windows there)

I’m from the Midwest too and I’m allll about watching the bad weather from outside until it gets really bad. I love your in the life vlogs, so relatable!

Healthy respect here in West Texas. We just had two come through our town. We keep an eye on the skies to know if we need to hunker down or not so we’re outside a lot. We don’t have basements here so we’d just be in a closet or bathroom in the middle of the house otherwise.

when i hear sirens i am serious about safety. But I do love to watch a thunderstorm! Love seeing your regular days! I used to grocery shop at 10PM with 3 under age 4 and my baby was with me half the time. Glad you have other options now. I love the book of James too. Such a great reminder. ❤

I'm also a midwesterner with 2 little ones (both under 3). I'd love to hear more about your meal prep process. I want to get into meal prepping but tend to get overwhelmed by the small size of our freezer and deciding what kind of meals will be fine frozen then defrosted and reheated. I found your channel maybe a month or so ago. It's really nice to find a stay at home Mom on KZread that's relatable and not paying for expensive meal delivery services and daycare, and all the crazy high end expensive baby gear.

I grew up in eastern CO in a small town that had tornados all summer long so I’m accustomed to hearing the sirens, however one June 6, 1990 evening the tornado actually was an F4 and destroyed our downtown. It was very traumatic as a child and forever before and after I’m terrified if we are out in that part of CO during a thunderstorm since I no longer live there. So I get scared because I’ve seen the destruction they can do. It’s devastating.

I am like Michael. I have a healthy fear lol. When I was a kid, I was home alone and a tornado touched down near me and I was so scared! I also live in the Midwest and I love watching the storms, but when I hear sirens I get freaked out!

Also from the Midwest and I used to be sick to my stomach scared of tornadoes as a child but ever since having kids I’ve become much more relaxed for some reason! Yes to the reminder that seasons don’t define us and we should walk closely with God despite our circumstances.🤍 You’re going to do great when he goes back to work! Wish I would have known about that carrier because I wear my baby all the time in the boba or solly but feel like I have to hold her head while getting things done or helping my toddler.

That’s really neat that you’ve meal prepping planning for a month at a time! Would love more details in the future ! Do you do ‘fill in’ grocery pick ups for things like produce, milk, bread, eggs?

I do not like storms or tornadoes, however, my family is a mix of those who go straight to shelter and those who stand on the porch and watch.

Ooof I hate tornados - huge fear! I get so nervous every time. Also what do you do about produce if you only get groceries once? Do you eat mostly frozen veggies and fruits? I’m at the grocery store at least once weekly based on how much fruit my toddler goes through 😅😅

  • @emmagracejoens

Yes but we also have to run to get milk when it runs out/expires so we’ll grab a couple of fresh things then too! Fruit is also so darn expensive we’ve definitely been using frozen fruit too😅

Tornadoes have been rough this year. We are going to get another round this week. What grocery stores do you go to for your monthly pickups? We are trying biweekly. I'm so bad at eating all the snacks if I buy them all at once.
