April 21st, 2015 - Katie and Claire clean Katie's car (for the first time in many, many years!).
I did slightly different color grading than normal in Resolve. I wanted to test out a new color grading technique on this based on this: vimeo.com/65617394. I couldn't pull it off very well because I think I'm limited with 8-bit color space --the colors just aren't there to "pull" with something as modern as that vimeo link. It looks ok, but the colors in the pass-through do look a little bit flat, and I wasn't able to add much of the blue/teal color to the background at all without it being overblown (hence the need for more color space!).
My Sony A99 is great, but I really think that to pull off this look, I need more color depth -like 12-bit raw color space. So, I probably won't do this much because the colors look a little flat! In the meantime, I'll look forward to the time when I have a DSLR that can record at least 12-bit!
