I really like the fact that you maintain content pressure whether you're in the low or high mouth. The content pressure really reduces the problem of getting rolled of the month. Impressive results! Coach AL

Thanks, i'll take that as a compliment since i haven't seen his juji gatame set yet, is it good? :D I did see him do the walk and pry to open the underhook elbow in some youtube video, i used to do it differently, but i like this method.

when u are walking up his left arm how are you preventing the roll? And where is your weight during the arm walk?

it seems like ur in a half way position between high and low mount and just wondering how u protect from the roll or elbow escape at this position?

  • @dadisb5

@@brownmiester The elbow escape is countered with the underhook, if he can´t frame on my hip, he can´t elbow escape. The roll is countered with the placement of my weight and position of my underhook. If my underhook is too close to his body, he can pin it and bridge to that side. So i need to hook out by his elbow so my elbow can act as a frame on the floor to widen my base. If my weight is over his center line he might be able to pin my crossface arm and bridge me to the crossface side. While i lean into the crossface, i need to make sure that my weight is leaning over to the underhook side. Hope that helps :)

@@dadisb5 thank you for the video. Really brilliant. When you do crossface, where is your weight? Does your knees still up, and hip doing pressure on his hip?

@@allmytacks Hey there, good question. Since this was filmed, i have added a crossface variation that has become my go-to. The pressure isn't as strong on the neck, but it allows me to keep tighter through out the movement. I still do this variation though, it is the stronger crossface. For this variation i will have to drop my hip pressure for a moment while getting my shoulder under the chin. After that is done i drop my hip again, but focusing my weight more into the shoulder. This starts the transition from controlling the lower body into controlling the upper.

You can see at 7:54 how i move my hips back to create space for the shoulder and as soon as i get it in place i push forward
