    Thank you! I'm glad it was helpful. Will be building a few more of these kits and will be doing more custom stuff. Making stencils, laying different kandy over each other, etc. Wanted this one to stand out but not super crazy since it was a raffle guitar. Crazy will be coming soon haha

    @@radtimecustoms my go-to in high school was an Epiphone semi hollow with a DiMarzio Evo bridge and mini humbucker neck pickup... I could use it on the neck for jazz band in school then switch to the bridge to jam with my friends after school 🤣 Hell, my main amp was a Peavey VT Classic 410 that I would run a Mesa Studio Preamp into the power amp. Used to love the confused looks of folks seeing the setup then hearing it. Always a fan of weird combos.

    Great video. Thank you for not rushing through it. You demonstrated and explained every step and detail thoroughly. Even repeating them such as how long you waited inbetween coats and how many coats you put on. Thank you. Great job. Roth should have this one on their website. Also great Job on the part two follow up to this one. If you get a chance can you please do a demonstration of the rattle bomb complete black kit. You can not find that anywhere. Even on their website. The picture they have does not show what it fully looks like.

    Thank you! That is much appreciated!!!. I haven't really had the need for the greasy black, so much so that i didn't realize it was black kandy over surfite silver. I may have to play with that one. I am currently prepping a roof for my dads 57 TBird. Its getting Sparkle Silver basecoat with blue kandy. Maybe ill have to shoot the borders first with greasy black instead of solid black before the blue kandy. This way you can at least see how greasy black looks over silver before it gets covered in blue. Cant make any promises as I change my mind on custom stuff all the time and the plan may change 3 times this week alone haha. If I don't use it on the roof...I'll find a use for it. Maybe the back of the LP Im building for myself...hmmm On the guitar side of it, I will hopefully be posting video of the first Radtime guitar I'm actually building for myself. I've already painted it so it will be more electronics, hardware etc...but!...on that guitar I used sparkle silver for the headstock and pickguard with gold pearl...sparkle silver may be my new go-to basecoat...at least when my spray gun gets dusted off

    I used glitter from rustoleum for my base. Should’ve just went full rattle bomb. Now it’s like 80 grit sandpaper and I’m 3 cabs of triple glaze clear coat in. With a run on the last pass.

    I dont think so. The paint can be found from TCP Global, you can get it pre mixed ready to spray. You can then get Preval Sprayer. Just load the paint into the glass jar, screw on the aerosol, and boom...spray paint

    That was awesome thanks!, I’ve been sitting on a PGK 58’ Flying V for almost 2 years, contemplating how I want to finish it, I really dig the gold flake!, I have everything I need, except the paint.., Gibson burst bucker pickups, custom 50’s wiring, and all hardware to build it., I’m seriously considering the candy gold kit!, could I ask how many cans of each do you think I need for a 58’ Flying V?, subbed, cool channel!

    Glad it was helpful! I usually get 2 cans of each...base, kandy, clear, just to be safe. Plus...you can always mix and match later so if you have some left over, you may decide your next one should be red kandy over the gold base you have left over. I've been crazy busy with customer stuff lately so I haven't been able to make a follow up video. Hopefully in the next couple weeks I'll post a video of how different bases change the look of your candy coat and how you can get different shades etc etc

    Also...58 V is on my list of guitars for myself. Building myself a guitar like the one in the video but a bit different, then a Les Paul, 58 V may be after the LP. I'm building a thinline for this year's raffle, once it's done I can get back on my own stuff. Let me know how the V turns out!

    Is it ok to shoot the clear 15 minutes after the kandy?

  • @radtimecustoms

    @radtimecustoms

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes it is. The kandy uses a mid coat much like clear. So you just treat your clear like your adding more coats of clear over clear

    Incredible work dude, too bad you had such a short time to make the guitar AND document the process but I really appreciate it. I had no idea about the 2 part clear but I’ll be using that from now on! Did you have to sand the clear at all or does it produce some kind of self leveling magic?

  • @radtimecustoms

    @radtimecustoms

    9 ай бұрын

    Thank you! To answer your question, it lays just like clear from a spray gun on something of this size. Would I shoot an entire hood this way, no...but something the size of a guitar is perfect. As long as you're not shooting really heavy flake, it really doesn't need to be colorsanded and buffed, but of course looks even better if done. I didnt have any time to film the last guitar so I will likely start on next years a little early so i can get a little more detailed. Last years guitar pics are posted on the IG page. It was a thinline that was inspired by Larry Watsons Grapevine Chevy from the 50s. a Lot of different paint stuff going on, reshaping of the F Hole, and i made custom knobs to match Watsons custom hubcaps. Wish I coulda kept that one, should have made 2 haha

    Awesome, thank you for that info, do you think that one can of each paint in the Roth kit is enough for one guitar body? (a jazzmaster in this case) Please take more pics of your next project! I checked your instagram but didn't see many of the guitar from the video, btw what pickups did you put in? They sounded amazing! Thanks again@@radtimecustoms
