    By the way when the spray cans are nearly empty (or on a cold day) I sit them in some "hand hot" water. This increases the pressure in the can so the propellant will squeeze out the lost drops of paint ("waste not want not" :) )

    I'm going to have to look into this Pro Classic paint. I usually do not like Sherwin Williams paints, but this might be worth the while. Thanks for the great vids brother!

    Great tips. I like the can lip punch idea very much...but l'll opt for a mallet or dead blow hammer to avoid more palm bruises.

    Great video with great advice! Thanks for the tips and tricks, definitely useful. What do you think of the primer and paint in one? Do you think you get better results doing the two separately?

    I like what you do, I have a suggestion for you, if you are using a water base product, do not sand with a steal wool. Metal and water creates RUST. It may take a while before it show up but it could show.

    Keep the roller ready for a while without drying out. Wrap the wet roller in a plastic sandwich bag and store it in the freezer. Take it out let it thaw and its ready to go again.

    Thanks for the tip Edward. I had access to newspaper bags and I would wrap my rollers with them on long jobs. You can also wrap them in aluminum foil. if you are going to keep them longer than 24 hrs., you can put them in a refrigerator. I also keep my caulking in the fridge, it keeps the products from drying out and you can use them as immediately. The freezer will make paint brushes and rollers hard until it thaws. It still works but I prefer a refrigerator. Have a good day!

    Be careful with that steel wool as Mark Gagnon said. When using a waterbourne top coat you have a good chance of rust coming through if not perfectly wiped off.

    That roller nap will leave a fine raised dimpled surface verse brush lines. I know that I can use a brush and show no lines if the paint is thinned right, the paint will flow if you let it.

    I thought with Pro Classic being so durable, a clear coat wasn't needed? Or is there another reason I'm missing :) Last I looked at your videos was 2013 when we started on our kitchen project and I was spray painting my doors, but hand painting the upper cabinets. If the paint chips, can you still do touch up when there is a clear coat?

    Hi Paula, You will have to be careful with old paint, it will probably contain lead in it. I would not recommend sanding lead paint. I would suggest going to a paint supply store, they will have more knowledge than the big box stores. I would look for a good paint stripper. I normally do not use strippers but sometimes it is the best option.

    Hi Danny, Unfortunately, I don't. I live below sea level in New Orleans and have no basements in this area. I can direct you to a channel that covers several topics on framing. I think you should find what you need, this guy is good. Bob Schmidt is his name and here is the link kzread.info If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks! Paul

    Paul, can you tell me why you use an automotive primer as opposed to primer from a paint store?

  • @paulstoolbox

    @paulstoolbox

    7 жыл бұрын

    Hi Michael You can use any spray primer, I personally like grey automotive primer because it bonds very well and has excellent coverage. I tried other primers, but they did not cover as well. This is only my personal opinion and not a rule to go by. I hope this helps. Thanks! Paul

    using a clear coat over a wall paint bad idea. makes touch up difficult if you seal make sure paint is dried 5-7 days so you don't end up with a foggy look.
