I've been making big paper mache halloween props for about a decade, finally trying to venture out into other mediums and I think this would be a perfect starting point. Great video and channel dude, subbed for life!

Question - Could you use Modge Podge instead of the latex?

Can you jus use plastic wrap instead of plastic bags? I want to do some 36" pumpkins. That's a lot of bags. LOL

I would think you should be fine using plastic wrap. Let me know how it turns out. Happy Halloween 🎃

I'm starting a project like this actually right away using a yoga ball and loctite. Came on you tube to see if anyone had tips and tricks. I think I'll draw some grooves like a beach ball has on my yoga ball to do a section at at a time. Wish we had cheap spray foam at Walmart up here in Canada lol. Located gets $$$

I work W this stuff a lot over the last 10 yrs making fake food, lol. I find having a skewer handy is my best tip. If the foam is getting too high or if it's got too much air or is getting to a shape you don't like as it's drying, poke it with the skewer & push. It expells the air and the wet foam inside. This works especially good of you're trying to get it to form into a certain shape, especially if it's a pan or something similar.. And I keep poking the same area, then I'll just rip off the foam that squeezed out once it's dry. I hate sanding the foam or cutting it once it's dry bc it has a weird texture once you cut it or sand it and to me it takes away the authentic look.

You can try Pam to release the ball.

I believe It would, you may just have to add some extra inside for structural integrity. My guess would be 10-12 cans.

Don't smooth it out!!! Lol! I use this stuff all the time over the last ten yrs to make fake food (breads, muffins, cupcakes, etc..) and once you take off that dried top layer, to me it gives a weird texture that no matter how you paint it, never looks as good and as real as the cured surface. I use wood stain bc it's super authentic looking for bread, but even with paint, you can't hide the texture once it's cut or sanded. Unfortunately. So, I stay on top of it while it's drying and will poke the top layers with a skewer and push the air and wet foam out, which helps to keep it's form the way I want it to and I don't havr to cut or sand the foam after 😉

    What is the latex for?

I used the latex to go over the stem. Since I had to cut the foam it didn’t look right so the latex smoothed everything out.
