I appreciate your commentary but the truth is, dark skin and black has for too long been associated with “ not good looking “ “ crime” “ ugly” which is why so many try to bleach their skin. Black is beautiful. Black is sexy. Melanated people are the most sought after for organ donation. Which is why China is no longer allowed to adopt African babies. They were used for organs. I am a beautiful woman born of an African father and a “ white” Portuguese/Italian mother. I’ve seen how comments like yours have resulted in racism and not getting certain jobs because they are too dark. I’ve listened to Indian women talk about this stigma on the Oprah show. Darker skin is seen as less beautiful or “ average “and light / white skin is beautiful or handsome.
