Spotting the World's Smallest Dolphins in Akaroa / Banks Peninsula, New Zealand

When in Akaroa, one of the absolute must do activities is to go dolphin watching and meet the world's smallest and rarest dolphins, the Hector's dolphins.
We booked our dolphin watching tour with Akaroa Dolphins. They're family owned and operated, super friendly and informative and they have cute dogs that ride onboard to help spot the dolphins! They even serve complimentary drinks and home baking on the cruise but to top things off, they have a 98% rate of success for seeing Hector's dolphins. If you're among the rare few who don't, you can ride with them again for free. A wonderful experience that we highly recommend when in Akaroa.
Akaroa Dolphins
www.akaroadolphins.co.nz/akar...
After our dolphin cruise, we took a stroll around the township including visiting the historic Akaroa Lighthouse. For lunch we ate at Ma Maison which had a lovely view of Akaroa harbour to soak in while we enjoyed our meals.
Ma Maison Akaroa
Address: 6 Rue Balguerie, Akaroa 7520
www.mamaison.co.nz/
We finished off our day by doing a walk along Onawa Peninsula. It's best visited during low tide, so be sure to check tide times before heading over. The view there is absolutely amazing and definitely worth visiting especially during sunset. Remember that it is a sacred Maori site though, so be respectful by refraining from eating there and also no dogs allowed.

Yum mussels! Ok I think this is going to be my favorite video of the South series Seeing those dolphins is totally a luxury in life, being so close to wildlife is one of our favorite things to do. There are tons of sheep and goats like that on the Turkish coast. It is insane indeed. Very French, love it! I am a huge fan of anything French. That is a lot of millions 🤣🤣 at least for us...at the moment Good to know about the place is sacred and expectations, you guys are always so informative.

Are there any historic artifacts or features on that peninsula that are left over from when the pa was there?

I was looking for any remnants but didn't find anything. But when you go up there you can really imagine how the natural grooves of the land made an excellent fortress.
