Spotting Sub-ghz devices with the Flipper Zero
Ғылым және технология
ko-fi.com/rad_linux
I wanted to do a little video about spotting sub-ghz devices. Sub-ghz is not a consumer facing tech so it won't generally be advertised on the box. I also walk through capturing and emulating a sub-ghz device. Sub-ghz is popular in the world of Iot because its low power, has good range, is omnidirectional, and doesnt require a clear line of sight.

Google translation, Thank you for this great video, you speak calmly with a lot of detail, which helps us to understand well despite the translation in subtitles. The French-speaking community of Belgium is waiting for your next videos.

Thanks to the Flipper, I know why I could not learn any 433 MHz Remote to my Remote-Lightswitch. Because it works on 868... Never thought about that.

Thanks! It really feels similar. Keeping a flipper on you really changes the way you see the world!
Thank you bro. I learn more from your video then I have in the past week of trying to hunt down proper information on how to utilize my flipper. I clean windows and stripping wax floors at a lot of places surrounding five counties. If there's any way I can manipulate automatic door frequencies of some sort, that'd be awesome. Damn, things have nearly killed me before.😂
Wow! Very interesting and great explanation!👍👏

I lost the remote , is it possible to generate a similar frequency to kind of emulate it?

I would check out some of the databases of sub-ghz signals around. It's possible somebody might have already captured your devices remote and shared it. I do think you can manually enter codes but thats above my head
Я из Росиии, если честно впечатляют возможности дельфина, он создан буквально год назад но уже сейчас его возможности кажутся неограниченными!) Спасибо за видео Red_Linux)

I’m getting mine delivered on the 17th of this month. What are the ranges like how far away can you be from the signal to interact with it?
@rad_linux
Жыл бұрын
The flipper has a pretty decent range, depending on barriers along the way. According to the documentation it has a max range of 50 meters or about 165 feet. those are likely under ideal conditions though.
Are you using default firmware? If not which firmware are you using?
@rad_linux
Жыл бұрын
i have been sticking with the official firmware for 2 reasons. one is that i want to show a bit more of the vanilla experience for new users. the other is that you cant get support from the flipper zero team for community firmware. i might experiment more in the future though

Unleashed has some cool features and removes region locks. The rfid fuzzing and sub 1ghz brute force are kinda cool

From how far can a flipper zero read the frequencies ? Can I be 5ft away and set the threshold to only read a higher frequency to save the sub gigahertz ? Or do I have to be within a foot ?
@rad_linux
Жыл бұрын
The RSSI threshold doesnt change the frequency that you capture. I believe it changes the strength of signal required to trigger capture. increasing the RSSI and moving further away might actually mess up capture. I think it has to do with the strength of the remote. The remote I have access too right now needs to be really close for the analyzer to work. But sometimes just sitting around my house I can see different frequencies flying around. The hard part at that point is deciphering where the signal is coming from
So I'm a garage door tech. How can I use this to brute force garage openers when there's no remote present?
@rad_linux

I'm really not an expert when it comes to radio bruteforcing. I know its a little different than trying to bruteforce a password. There are techniques that can overlap signals in ways that allow for a much faster process.
nice
Where should I copy garage-remote files? I see a sub-ghz folder but no folder/files underneath!
@rad_linux

the device will come without any sub-ghz files when you get it so the sub-ghz folder will be empty. You can place all sub-ghz files in the sub-ghz folder. You can also create sub folders for organization.
Just bought mine any tips for just starting out?

after updating the firmware try some basic functionalities like capturing ir codes. it may seem small but its fun and gets you comfortable with the device. definitely look into flipper repositories online for added features like new apps. you might want to better understand git to help yourself there. check out the flipper discord for different ideas. there are a bunch of wild projects out there. most of all research the crap out of different topics like sub ghz, C programming, and basic gpio capabilities. the possiblities are endless but ya gotta start somewhere!

how did you get the black one
@rad_linux

Black was a color only available to Flipper Zero kickstarter supporters. It's possible this might change in the future, but right now it seems only the lighter white or beige is available.
Is there any way currently to get one in the USA?
@rad_linux
Жыл бұрын
as far as i can tell they are not selling devices in the USA currently. I know they had trouble with customs at one point and they are still in the process of packaging and shipping the latest batch to get through. Once that is done they may be able to reopen shipping devices to the USA again. As annoying as it is, I think they are doing a great job considering silicon shortages and the challenge of developing shipping infrastructure as a new business. DO NOT BUY FROM SCALPERS

Bonjour à quoi sert rssi threshorld merci de votre réponse
@rad_linux
Жыл бұрын
the rssi threshold dictates how strong a signal will trigger the capture. if you set it above the noise floor it will only capture when it recognizes the stronger signal and then stop when that signal stops
