SPOTS BEGONE! Finally, smooth LEDs!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

LEDs are great - but their spotty, undiffused light is just so hard to work with sometimes. Fortunately this NEW kind of an LED strip is here to save the day! This video is about what exactly are they, how they work, and their applications.

    These look great! I’ll definitely be picking some of these up for those cramped projects that need diffused looking light. Great video! Thanks!

    thank you for this. i have built a 3-tier barrister-style bookcase with the intent of installing stained glass in the fronts and sides of the upper two tiers (the bottom contains four drawers ). we've been experimenting with how to illuminate the stained glass from the interior of the bookcase using lcd strips -- playing with diffuser materials, from layers of packing foam, to sanded/etched plexiglass, etc. thinking to try COB strips. interesting.

    Killer tip. There are tons of areas in cosplay where tight packaging means that you just can't fit enough material to diffuse a spotty light.

    Nice looks truly great for PC RGB etc. How are these as lighting? I use Lepro LED Strip Lights, 16.4ft 12V Dimmable Strip Lights, 6000K Daylight White, 300 Units 2835SMD from amazon in my livingroom for lighting along the ceiling/wall. I am looking to get alunimum v shape channels but worry about the spot issues. I wonder if these strips could be used in place and give off as much lighting with a channel?

    What are the odds, I found this stuff, literally days after I watched your last video about diffusing. Only problem I had, was they still benefit only as sections, not really individual LEDs (which of course is a given). Also, like you said, the price hurts, and when I was looking, availability and diversity of parts, were hit or miss

    Another great video. I'm learning a lot from them and I'm using that knowledge in my own projects. I don't know much about AliExpress and have never used them before... Is it a generally reliable way to buy electronics and have you found delays have been an issue or there's been extra taxes and things?

  • @Zibartas

    @Zibartas

    It's kinda like amazon, but individual sellers ship items - Ali is just the middleman handling returns/claims etc. Most of my small electronics/components come from there though - and regarding taxes, I think there's a new agreement with EU where they (Ali) charge you VAT at checkout and there's no further taxes after that, but look into it. :)

    Hello there. I recently have gotten interested into using cob led for developing a costume. I am looking to power it with double A's to power 12v led cob leds. It is a 4 pin cob led. Where could I find some compatible connectors, wires and RGB controllers? There are so many but I don't know if any would actually work since they seem to be for regular led light strips.

    Is this much more power hungry than a normal led strip? Wondering how it can be powered. I’m just getting into all this and love your videos!

  • @oliverer3

    @oliverer3

    Very late reply but someone might still find it useful, with the addressable ones you're looking at about 25-30W per meter. A normal 60 led/m strip uses about 18w/m in comparison so they do use more power. Do however note that this is at peak brightness which you probably won't run them at most of the time.

    Maybe a rechargeable 9V battery/pack of batteries and a 12V COB strip? You could also use a USB-C PD power bank, and a 9V/12V trigger board :) Depends on your skill, time and budget :)
