I don't know why his sexual orientation is even discussed, here. This song is a work of art, and Rufus Wainwright is a genius. Absolutley beautiful. My favorite Christmas song. What a deep and lovely soul.....

It would not have been possible for Jesus to have been born in December as there are mentions of shepherds attending their flocks of sheep in the fields& the weather was not suitable for that. More likely it was Summer/fall The reason people believe it is celebrated at this time is because of the Winter Solstice - which was already celebrated by people so essential hijacked much like easter

@@Stiffkittens01 irrelevant. If you call it Christmas ( Christ Mass) you are directly referencing a celebration of the birth of Christ. The spotlight is literally on Christ... the mass of Christ. [Not a Christian, just logical]
