Spot's Cool GameBoy Games ~ The Good, The Bad, The GameBoy

Ойындар

In a time when even corporate logos could launch a successful video game career, the 7up Spot had more games on the GameBoy than any other system.
They might not be his BEST games, but there sure were a lot of them.

    I’m sitting here w my 3 year old telling him we are going to watch cartoons just like I used to do on Saturday mornings back in the day. Then at 8:45am BAM! Hulk Hogan, cereal cartoons… also he likes 7up lol

    I know that cool spot was "a" game, I had no idea how much had spawned from one single red dot on a 7up Logo. This was really interesting and every time I watch one of your videos I tell myself this could be a Netflix series. This felt like a trip back in time and I loved it.

    Yeah, it's crazy. There were a bunch of commercial mascots that were crammed into video games, but it's funny how many MORE games Spot was in than pretty much anyone else. And 'Cool Spot' isn't even his last game!

    I believe it. I love a good strategy game, so I was very pleased to find that the gameplay of Spot: The Video Game was way better than I expected (and not just a straight-forward clone of Othello!) The artstyle of Attaxx suits the game a bit more than Spot does, but a fun game is a fun game

    Oh wow, I had no idea there was a Cool Spot Game Boy game, much less three of them. I’ve honestly never played any of the Cool Spot games outside of on a Genesis kiosk at my local Sears in the 90s, so I’m far from an expert. Also, it’s bizarre that you talk about Global Gladiators in this video because I just randomly bought a copy of the game this week (had it as a kid). It’s…. fine. And I had so many of those California Raisins plastic figurines when I was younger. I went crazy over those damn things! Haven’t heard anyone mention them in decades so I extra appreciated that part of the video. Excellent work as always my friend!!

    I've had Cool Spot on the Genesis for several years. I enjoy it, but I'll probably never complete it. I usually just play for a while until I get too frustrated by the blind, er, spots, or get lost in the house level.

    First time seeing Spot's Game Boy offerings. All I can say is Virgin really didn't know what to do with the licence untill they made their own game, did they? The puzzle game looks pretty decent, the other two, yeah, kinda meh. Talking of 7-Up, it would be great if somewhere along the line a GB port of the cancelled Fido Dido game turns up along with the SNES version that is still lost.

  • @AuthorativeMrM

    @AuthorativeMrM

    They must have gotten the license and just been determined to make video games out of it by hook or by crook. The puzzle game is the best of the three of them, probably because it was an existing game that was already good enough to stand on its own. Thanks for making a video about the GameBoy version of Mick & Mack a few years ago. I think yours is still one of the few instances of it popping up on KZread.

    I had no idea there were three Spot games on the Gameboy. Ill be honest, even though you didnt like the platformers that much, i think the order is from eorst to best in this video. Thos puzzle games are just boring to me, even if the gsmeplay is good and addictive. Abd while the platformers don't look great, I'd rather play that style of game. And finally, Aladdin on the Genesis is excellent!

    I don't necessarily disagree with you here. I'm a sucker for strategy games and I loved Othello in particular, so I probably liked Spot: The Video Game more than most (although I think it works best without Spot's involvement). And I enjoyed the console versions of the other two games. Cool Spot is unquestionably the best 'Spot' game
