'Spot on Mali,' I agreed to be the godmother because it was initiated by a brother of mine, who is Malian and Danish. He loves his country, Mali, so much that he created this Festival to support youth, young artists, young talents. I was there from the start of this great adventure.
And for the tenth edition, he contacted me to be the godmother, and naturally, I accepted because he deserves it. We must encourage those who love this country, love our culture, and our art because it is a noble cause. I am here because Moussa gives his all for his country and its culture."
Malian and foreign cultural actors participate in this Spot on Mali festival to discover young talents, an annual occasion for ten years. Beyond its playful nature, it is a space for discovering the culture of others, as testified by this artist from Northern Mali. Participating for the first time in this festival, which is an opportunity for him to meet his peers and feel Malian like the others.
“I am very happy to participate in this festival which deserves to be continued because it offers an opportunity for young people to assert themselves. I am certainly from the North and thanks to this festival, I feel Malian like other artists from the South. This is to say that we are all united for a strong and prosperous Mali through this festival. I invite the organisers to double their efforts to perpetuate this event, to the delight of the young generation of music and art in Mali. I am happy and satisfied with the organisation of this festival."
For three nights, different Malian musical instruments supported by melodious voices resonated in Bamako thanks to 'Spot on Mali,' welcoming all the participants of this festival who come from different regions of Mali to Bamako for this happy occasion.
'I will never stop telling Malian youth to make more efforts and to believe in their culture. Youth must get to work because Mali has enormous untapped instruments. I ask the youth to continue researching and working and exploit their cultural heritage. I have almost 34 years of a career, and I would be very happy to see the younger generation take over on international stages. That’s our wish.'
