Spot of the 18th Chopin Competition

Музыка

The Chopin Competition, taking place every 5 years, continues to arouse interest of critics, media, pianists, and the audience worldwide. Thanks to the free Internet broadcast in professional quality, the event has a global reach. In this atypical way (at least for classical music), viewers all over the world can follow the contestants in 4K quality.
The Fryderyk Chopin Institute prepared a promotional campaign with a universal message and the slogan ‘Talent is just the beginning’. We encourage you to watch the spot, which briefly describes the journey of a young pianist preparing for the performance on the stage of the National Philharmonic in Warsaw.
The spot was produced by Timecode Film Production studio.

    Takes even more for Chopin, these pieces usually are for life :D But the good news is that you don't practice one piece non-stop. It's all in circles. Do this, return to the previous one, leap forward, return on the next level of mastery and so on.

    Yes but not necessarily. I practiced this piece on my own for six months. Found a good teacher who guided me on the hand movements etc and played it a thousand times better in a week! So imagine if a student gets perfect tuition on a good instrument from the outset how many blind alleys and mistakes they can avoid? It really is as important as that. You wouldn't try to build a car without having mechanical knowledge first?

  • @franklee3861

    @@pianosbloxworld4460 My best advice to you is that maybe try few years of professional piano class, see if you are really for it, there are so many things you will discover as you grow up, so you might be interested in other things in future. Still, knowing the effort neccessary for a pro pianist is good, but it's also important to experience to see if you can withstand that, many pianists along the way try to find inspiration and motivation to keep them going. So, to your question, never give up hope so early while you are still young. If you give up hope so young and easily, there will be nothing left to dream as you grow! I wish you success in being who you are, and go seek more advice from your parents and friends:)

    I rarely comment on KZread but...this is really touching and inspiring. Most people only see the glamorous stage but rarely realize how much dedication, hard work, and resilience is behind each performance. This is nicely encapsulated in a Chinese saying I really like, which roughly translates to "10 years of practice for 1 minute on stage" (台上一分钟, 台下十年功).

  • @saramarinoni9972

    @saramarinoni9972

    The Chopin competition is Polish and I guess that the video was made in Poland - usually, in polish schools, there isn't a launch hall or dining rooms ( if they are - they're usually super small, libraries are super small too) so all school events are organised in the gym - we usually bring decorations, chairs, boards and instruments for the event's period there. So the story for me (for a person raised in Poland ) makes sense - after the school event when everything was cleaned only piano remained (probably because it was heavy and students shouldn't carry such valuable object) - the boy comes to still open gym and starts to play - probably mics were switch on too so all the school heard his play.

  • @mastermati773

    @mastermati773

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@saramarinoni9972 Can confirm. As much as Polish schools suck, I must admit that every school I attended had a piano. Sometimes open-piano days were a thing. Those were very cool because people approached the piano because of different reasons: some people flexed their skills and beautiful playing could be heard, but some have never touched the instrument and were just curious and pushed randomly making ears of others bleed.

As a self-taught pianist now, that has been 1 year since I started,. I can surely tell that it doesn't matter when you start because you can be forever a successful musician just if you work hard. Believe this in you and you will be better and better. Trust me,I am working on a piece now which was an amazing dream when i started. You can too.

    I’m 26 now and discovered Classical Music at 22 through a Professor in college. I’m now slowly pursuing my degree in Music Education and Musicology, and I’m training as a Soprano/Classical Vocalist. It’s never too late to follow your passion! Another great example is the Classical Music composer (specifically from the Impressionistic Era) Erik Satie. He was expelled from Conservatory TWICE and was considered “a mediocre student and even worse pianist” by most of his professors. He barely made it through when he enrolled in his third attempt and just barely graduated in his mid-40’s. Yet, Satie is now well-known as the composer who influenced Impressionism and was well-acquainted with Ravel, Debussy, and Fauré (highly popular French composers of Satie’s day). Never let age (or anything!!) hold you back. Pursuing music is absolutely possible, no matter how old or who you are.

To me it's particularly touching, because I started studying this exact Étude a few months ago and the "struggle" has been very well portrayed here. It actually motivated me to keep pushing even though in the end it'll be just for the pleasure of playing it for myself. Thank you Chopin for these wonderful challenges you wrote!

    Great video, very inspiring! Hope youngsters nowadays get the point that there is much more than speed to a skill. For those of us who have gone through it, I think we can all not just understand but also feel the message being conveyed through the video. It applies particularly well to this prestigious competition but it definitely applies to other struggles in life. Well done. May the history and the depth of the Institute continue to inspire many generations of pianists to come, and in so doing benefitting humanity with such amazing compositions as Chopin’s! I cannot wait for October to come to watch the performances.
