Spot Fishing for Big Carp | TA|Insights | Volume Three | Chapter Eight | Gaz Fareham | Carp Fishing

Спорт

Choosing the right spot to place your rig is a fine art and those that do it well are often the most successful. Gaz Fareham is well known for being incredibly meticulous in his angling, but even he was surprised how much of a difference the make up of a spot can make to your catch rate. Gaz relays his nuggets of information he has gained over the last few seasons on Stoneacres Lake, where finding freshly fed on areas is the key to success.
As well as spot finding, Gaz discusses his current rig choices as well as how he has used natural baits in small quantities to great effect. With carp to over 44lb, this one film you don’t want to miss!

    Enjoyable was as always, but I'd say 98% of carp waters in the UK don't let people use a boats unless its to free a snagged fish.

    Great job as usual. I have a question. Are UK waters commercial or public? If so, is the challenge of catching carp comparable or much more difficult in public fisheries? like in my country for example. Greetings to English carp anglers.

    All sorts from public, open access waters to private lakes. Most are club waters or privately owned that you buy a day or season ticket for.

    We don't have many truly public waters like you get in say France or Belgium. Most of our lakes are commercial (run as a business) or controlled by a club/syndicate. I don't really fish the commercial lakes but I think they can be quite challenging due to how heavily fished they get.

    I wouldn't use a 10oz in the first place the 30lb would get stuck in the weed anyway and then a boat trip to pick it up unless he's prepared to drag a carp by its mouth through a weed field lol

    Love to see someone try to put a bait out there on twelve pound mono and a three ounce lead 😂 Extreme situations require the correct approach...

  • @alexpeters1080

    Can u explain why please. I've fished at range on big pits etc. I've had 3oz leads moved in undertow. But 10 oz seems a little extreme. But then I remember when 3lb tc rods n 3 oz leads were extreme

  • @kevinwinter7050

    @kevinwinter7050

    11 ай бұрын

    Braid in a breaking strain similar to commonly used mono would be ridiculously thin and fragile, you need a decent diameter to withstand abrasion, which will catch the undertow.. With a long length of braid out there, it will also collect weed and other debris, the issue being hugely exacerbated by the distance being fished and the massive undertow that can form on a proper big pit. I've had six Oz gripper leads moved by undertow in the past, so ten guarantees it won't move
