Many countries outside of the USA, have a long wait time from when the lights and bells ring, till the train passes. Way to long of a wait time! It's so long of a wait, you think the signal is not working properly.

Because the level crossing is in the middle of a station where the trains are supposed to stop :)

the difference is that in USA, trains are dangerous and level crossings are without signaling of protection on the train side and sometimes even on the side ...In Italy, the railways are among the safest in the world at plant level.

It is a Level Crossing that is remotely controlled by the previous station, and linked to the exit signal. So to make the green light the level crossing must be secured. That’s the reason why it remains closed for so long. Italy is sadly a place full of retarded idiots that have no civil common sense and the standard automated level crossing like other countries have may lead to dangerous consequences in a place like this (and i am italian, so i know what i say, sadly)

Bernard per sicurezza! In chiusura si abbassano prima le barriere lato direzione corsia stradale, poi le altre per eventuali ritardatari che si sono fermati in mezzo. In apertura il meccanismo apre tutto in quanto non ci sono più problemi di sicurezza.
