Look, i dont know where you got that information about him but i need to clarify for you. The reason he is hated by some is that he has beef with another popular german rapper, whos fanboys are at war with the spongebozz fanboys. This spongebozz dude has street cred, so much that unlike some of the most famous german gangster rappers he is not paying any protection money while chilling with the most powerful german mafia clans. Long story short, the reason he wore the costume is simple. When he began his career he called himself Sun Diego a famous german rap review channel said his autotune rap was gay, this damaged his reputation so much that no matter what he did people cept hating on him, saying he is a bad rapper. He dissapeard, a year later or so a guy in a spongebozz costume enters a popular rap battle contest and starts slaying every single oponent until years later recently he reveals that in fact he is Sun Diego. Now he is after every single one who wronged him in the past and he is realy good at it. His oponents or shall i say victims quickly started looking for a excuse not to take him seriously and began saying "hes just a dude in a spongebozz costume, thats why i wont take him seriously" the truth is that they are afraid because this motherfucker spits fire. Even the stupid statement his fans are 12 years old is just an excuse. He definitely no phony, the evidence is clearly there, this motherfucker has no regard for noeone. The last rapper he beefed fled to the netherlands while members of the Saado Clan wreaked havoc inside one of his clubs, he returned after negotiations where done.

He is a crazy skilled rapper. Aggressive flow with tons of variety, his hooks are catchy and the general tone in his tracks are nice. BUT - and here is why didn't listen to him, for a long time, was the voice and the "SpongeBozz" style of his rap. He finally returned and raps as himself - i even bought his freaking album, something i never thought i do - even so i only listen to the tracks where he raps as his alter ego "Sun Diego". Go check out some of his newer songs, like "Machinegunflows", "yellow bar mitzvah" or "Eierkinn Diss, if you wanna hear some crazy flows".

Be careful with your opinion, u gonna piss off a lot of 12 year old Spongebozz groupies!

Spongebozz is Sun diego and was known for music with kollegah in the past. But there was a big shitstorm so he decided that he will rap with this spongebozz outfit so people judge his skill and not himself

there was a rapper called "Sun Diego" a few years ago, he stopped and participated in an online batte rap cup, got himself a custome, pitched his voice and named himself "SpongeBOZZ", at the beginning nobody knew that but sometime he got recognized because nobody else can rap like this fast. look up newer Songs of spongebozz/sun diego

Here is a comment explaining a bit of Spongebozz' history it isn't mine tho: Comment by Feli I once wrote a long ass text explaining Sun Diego's story to an other reactor and copy and pasted it on several other reaction so some ppl were pissed off for seeing my comment everywhere but I dunno why it's bothering them 🤷🏻‍♀️ So there you go: He became famous through an online rap battle tournament called JBB (JuliensBlogBattle) which was created by a german youtuber called JuliensBlog. It started because Julien originally uploaded reviews of german rap albums and made one for an album called Moneyrain Entertainment Vol. 1 by a guy called Sun Diego. He teared this guy apart completely and made fun of him back then, because he used autotune in his hooks etc, which was not popular at all at that time in german rap. Therefore Sun Diego was hated by so fucking many people that this basically ruined his career and he released a diss track against Julien. So Julien thought it would be fun to create a tournament where people would write diss tracks against him and that's what he did. Fast forward, in 2013 Spongebozz 'auditioned' for this tournament and killed the game because his skills and lines destroyed basically everyone and he soon became the fave of everyone and won the tournament. He participated again the following year (in the King Finale) and won a second time against a guy named Gio, who is really good too btw, and released a 35 min long diss track against him. He basically made rap battle history with that move and destroyed Gio completely! After that he released his first solo album called Planktonweed Tape with ACAB as the main track. This track got, as well as his whole album, indicated and Spongy got pissed because he couldn't get his gold status for selling over 75k. (Indicating means that a certain work of art gets censored or banned if it's allegedly harmful to a young audience here in Germany) During the time of JBB, everyone speculated who could be behind his mask and people analyzed his battle rounds etc. He turned out to be Sun Diego, which never got confirmed, up untill SFTB of course.(SFTB and Apocalyptic Infinity are 2 other songs of Spongebozz) Fast forward to today: He released a 27 min long video after a 1 year break, basically out of nowhere, announcing his new album Started From The Bottom/KrabbenKoke. In this video he basically performed 3 songs. SFTB, Apocalyptic Infinity (which is inspired by Apocalyptic by Sun Diego) and a diss track called Payback (#forsundiego) against the biggest german rapper nowadays, Kollegah. During SFTB, he basically tells his background story and reveals some details about his life, the indication of his album, an assasination attempt against his family and his two year old son, which actually meant to be against him and also the fact that everyone makes comparisons to Sun Diego. Apocalyptic Infinity is in a way a diss track aginst a lot of other rappers and youtubers and reveals some background information too. The last one, as I said, is a diss track against Kollegah. Where he says that Kolle didn't pay him back when he worked with him on his album Bossaura and some other shit that went down between them. He also basically confirms himself, that he is indeed Sun Diego because back when he worked with Kollegah, SpongBozz didn't even exist and it was Sun Diego working with Kollegah. The last line of that track is 'everyone is waiting for a thousand bars Kollegah diss', so he announces a 1 hour diss track, something that has never happened in german rap ever before, at least not like this. So Payback wasn't the real diss track. The real one is yet to come. Kollegah answered by releasing his own 'announcement diss track' called Legacy. He's calling it a 'bitch slap' rather than a diss track. This battle between those two is probably the biggest rap battle/beef in the history of german rap and it just started. This shit is going to be crazy. I thought this comment was quiet useful and why not post it here? Anyway, nice reaction!

He is the best german rapper thats why many people hate him. He destroyed everyone in battlerap, thus many people need to cry about it. His costume is just his battle-image, many german rappers have something like that. Listen to some of his new songs he isn't even wearing the mask anymore.
