I absolutely love the contrasts between Tennant's 1st and 2nd regeneration. In the first one, he was alone in the Tardis, having lost those closest to him, not wanting his time to be over. In this one, he's surrounded by allies and embraced by his two closest friends as they support him through the process, while he welcomes his next incarnation with open arms.

14th hugging The Doctor shows that both of them now loves themselves because if we can remember back at 11th's era when he was dying he asked for a hologram interface and it showed himself and he said "no give me someone i like" he didn't like himself but now after a few faces he now learned to love himself even more

For those who are confused, I think this means that 14 lives his life with the Nobles, and when he eventually dies, he gets timey-wimeyd back to this moment and comes out of himself as Ncuti. So it's more of a branched timeline rather than 2 new doctors now. At least, that's what the "therapy out of order" etc lines seem to imply

Upon hearing this, upon seeing this doctor. All it took was a few lines, a smile, a wink and then I knew it. The 15th doctor has arrived. We’re in for a treat. Doctor who is alive as ever and this episode has showed it. I’m in awe!!! And hell yeah, as one might say….. The Doctor is in!

I rather think Bi-regeneration happens because...it's just happen!. Think about humans having Twins babys. It's only 1 of 200.000 chance but it do happens anyways. Here the "doctors" says it's a myth but they never had a chance of bi-genetaring themselfs before. Here the doctor just "Twins" himself.

Interesting idea. I thought that the bi-generation happened simply because the Doctor has evolved. Seeing as he has passed the limit of regenerations that a normal Timelord has (being 12). Of course my theory only really works if you ignore Chibnall’s Timeless Child thing.

No, it's pretty clear that it's because of Wild Blue Yonder. The Doctor brought superstician, magic, and myths into some form of reality. This is what the whole rest of Doctor Who is focusing on now. This part of how the Toymaker came back. The Phrase "Myth, myth, myth" is said by the 15th Doctor here and repeated in the Christmas Special for how Goblins are real.

Absolutely perfect ending, it was time to end the trauma stricken Doctor. 12 and 13 where so incredibly broken its no surprised 14 is the straw that broke the camels back.

IT PLAYED THE THEME JUST BEFORE 9 REGENERATED 😭😭😭 I was already in tears at that moment

So it was a multi-doctor story in the end...

The references in this are a delight. Mel throwing out 9's favourite word to reaffirm us of all Doctors (whilst that same beautiful music plays), 14 quoting 5's line that never quite fit and it feeling different, and the complete inversion of 10's regeneration, with 14's (intended) final line being the opposite of 10's - rather than simply bringing up arbitrary quotes from past Doctors, these all make perfect sense here and elevate the moment.

I just love how the Toymaker doesn't hesitate once about shooting the Doctor. Enemies in the past have always hesitated when they have had the chance to shoot and hit the Doctor to kill him or make him regenerate and their hesitation is always where they fail and then lose. I was godsmacked when the Doctor got hit with the beam instantly, was like OMFG Noo!!

The first time two doctors didn't argue

I always think stories & actions should have consequences… but on this one, nostalgic, anniversary occasion, I think we should all celebrate the decision to end things happy. The twist of ‘biregeneration’ was a result of The Doctor being so exhausted, he split into two to survive; his past self free to finally rest & his new self unburdened by the trauma that came before. For me, this is a genius move to reboot the show with a character no longer carrying the baggage of the last 20 years, very excited for Gatwa… he was stealing those scenes! As long as the writing decisions come from a ‘serving the show’ intention, to hell with the rules, rewrite them all & let’s have another brilliant 60 years 💙

in all fairness accidents like this have occurred in older who for timelords and eternals so i think it's a very fitting little twist and it genuinely surprised me in a good way and that hasn't happened in who for a while i also think it makes sense because as you said it shows a doctor who has now 99% detached from his trauma mostly he still has it but no longer has it guiding his hand so maybe this doctor will be like some of the older ones before the war happened capable but not as emotionally volatile

I was really shocked, and then I was really sad, and then I was really confused, and then I was really happy and then I was really content and now I can't wait for the Xmas special. As 10 being my first Doctor, it's great to see his version get a happy ever after. Funny to think that Donna wanted to be with the Doctor forever but in the end, it's him that gets to be with her for(mostly but not really cos age)ever.

Mel is now the only companion in dr who history to be with the doctor during 2 of his regenerations.

It's kinda calling back to Baker in the 50th ann special talking about how the doctor was gonna revisit some old faces, implying he's a future Doctor himself. Me personally, I think this split Doctor that stays Tennant is actually the Curator, and he eventually becomes Baker as we see him then

Well as long as they don't have the Doctor (from Gatwa onwards that is) regenerate/bi-regenerate into Tennant yet again, I'm all for it. If Tennant returns again in future, either bring him back as 14th, as 10th like in "The Day of the Doctor" or even as the Meta Crisis Doctor from "Journey's End" where they could also have Billie Piper return as Rose. Otherwise, we'd have a trio of Tennant Doctors existing at once. Or quadruples if 10th popped up too. Then Tennant would really be stealing the spotlight from other Doctors.

What are you talking about? 14 is still as much the Doctor as 15 is! I think 14 gave birth kind of to 15 LOL! Both are the Doctor, same memories, same person both with regenerations. 14 will retire for now. It's possible for him to return in the future in a Christmas special or something! The Meta Crisis doctor is a completely different Doctor with one heart. He came from 10's chopped off hand that Donna touched.

From the moment David's Amazing FourTen return was confirmed I wanted him to be at peace this time around when changing. I wouldn't change his happy ending at all but he was ready, older and grateful for this unprecedented second chance. He is still quivering but unlike last time his friends are there and he is being strong for them. It is so wonderful to finally have that closure from the End of Time

edit mistake at 0:10 shows the doctor moving to his left, but then the next clip at 0:11 he's standing still.

Imagine Matt Smith's reaction to this episode. I wonder how he FELT.

Feels like the end, David's Doctor can just go off and do his own thing since he's the original having cloned himself here it seems like he reproduced like a reptile.

So if 14 dies and regenerates does that make his regeneration the 16th Doctor? Or if 15 regenerates first and then 14 regenerates does that give us 16 and 17? They're both equally the Doctor so this could get complicated.

14 will still regenerate into 15, 15 was brought into the bigeneration at the point of 14’s (future) death

I believe 14 will vanish into regeneration energy that goes back in time to this moment that will pop up into the 15th. That's my headcannon.

Tom Baker's Curator from Day of the Doctor mentioned to 11 that he'd be revisiting "the old favorites", so I think 14 will regenerate, but stay retired. After all, he told Donna in Wild Blue Yonder that he'd be okay after a million years, so maybe his retirement will last several regenerations, eventually looping to Tom Baker again.

Coming up to this, there was so much speculation on what Tennanrs would say before regenerating. Everyone thought it would be a play on his previous last words, "I don't want to go". Everyone was saying it would be something like "I'm ready to go" or "its time to go" as a completion of his character arc of coming to terms with it. But every suggestion felt weird and clunky. But it was staring us all in the face, the man's catchphrase, "let's go" in french. So good!

@@Ethnicparty If you notice 15 was wearing the socks, the shoes, the shirt, the tie and the underwear, while 14 kept the undershirt, the vest, the pants and no underwear, i assume XD

Kate has never seen regeneration before. She's seen multiple Doctors though. For all she knows, this is how it works.

Now that Fourteen is all sorted, Crowley can get back to that business with his Angel. Is there anything that Tennant can't do?

I think that this is symbolic: RTD has the old Doctor and TARDIS retiring along with everything that comes with them for the most part and he is starting anew.

Anyone else notice how Tennant says "feels different this time" That's exactly what Peter Davison who played the Fifth Doctor said before he had regenerated into the Sixth. Thought I'd mention it. :)

This is the second time he did this with regeneration

I loved the episode but miss the explosive roar of the normal regeneration

He got his happy ending in the end

Theory; the Toymaker was actually playing another game here. Normally, when the Doctor is immediately post regeneration, they're VERY off balance. I think the Toymaker was trying to rig the game by putting the Doctor in that state

People criticized this for happening but if you listen to the Toymaker he said he messed with the Doctors life so who is to say this is not a result of that. Many of you were happy to believe the Timeless child storyline but this is where you draw the line

now that all of the specials are out I can ask: what was the LORE reason for 14's clothes changing from jodie's in Power of the Doctor? It'd make sense if it was a trick by the toymaker, but if it was the Doctor himself subconsciously crying out for help, why then did the clothes change too?

Well that was strange and wonderful at the same time! Lol. The toymaker was played brilliantly by Neil Patrick Harris and was a homage to past companions. Just hope it doesn't turn into carry on camping from now on or Im finished with it!! 🤞🤞😥by the way, what happened to the tooth????
