Splitting some rawhide string and knocking corners off.

Ойын-сауық

Splitting some rawhide string and beveling the skin side, The splitter is from the 1860's, it's an osborne 8 inch splitter and I need to do a little work on it as it's still go the barn on it. The clamp and the table from ikea don't help, having a real work bench would be an asset but It was meant for the computer not leatherworking and it's what I have. It took me 4 years to find the splitter and this is one of the first times using it on something.
This is me playing with the new tool and learning from the experience with the new to me material, rawhide (cow).I am not an expert, not in this process, This is showing you my learning process from scratch using the y-knot beveling and resizing tool. (new to me tool as well)
Laugh along with your friends as I learn the hard way and make mistakes.
Learning is a journey, not an end point and It's a process I greatly enjoy.
This is a bit drier than I think it needs to be, experience is a funny thing.
The gloves are painter gloves coated in a neoprene type material, I cut my hands with about a thousand paper cuts in the previous video which got deleted by accident. Likely the wrong gloves but I am playing with every element here including gloves.
