i love riho in bm, but she has more potential doing her own thing than being in bm. her singing is beautiful and she can *dance* as we’ve seen lol. i just feel she shouldn’t be a permanent member tbh. even if they give her a mic, doing backing vocals and doing their choreographies isn’t going to showcase her full talent. and she’s a freelance dancer with an ig account so its possible they wouldn’t offer her a permanent spot (she probably wouldn’t take the offer anyways :/)

It's better that they have Momokom, Riho, and Kano. That way the Su will always have two dancers on stage with her in case something happens to one of them. Think they want to avoid what Moa having to dance up there alone like when Yui suddenly left.

Himeka said during their study on ASH that time ago.. Suzuka is the best vocalist! and Riho is the best dancer! Imo, Riho is cool, swag and powerful at dance but she also has a nice voice, not really fit to metal but very good to sing pop and Jazz 👏 And Suzuka ofc her voicee!! And her dance too.. powerful, limber and elegant at the same time 👏💚

I think they all do good, but Riho does have that extra something. She goes hard in this song and I feel she brings an edge with her dancing. I always though Yui was the slightly better performer of the original two, she had great choreography, so I think Riho should be the replacement based on her choreography as well.

Here's a thought... they are both amazing. But the future success of Babymetal lies in further evolution of style, experiment, and collaboration, not in becoming a 'tribute act' to their teenage selves. However 'kawaii' the replacement for Yui is, its not the way forward. Also as Metal Galaxy already shows, Sumetal is the voice of Babymetal, and Moa is the choreographer. For the moment she's happy with that. If Moa wants a real singing career (more than "scream and dance") it will not be in Babymetal. I think Yui realised this, her wish to be a singer in her own right would never be fulfilled within Babymetal. And the Avengers will know this too. Their individual talents will always be third on the pedestal behind Su and Moa, unless Momoko and Riho suddenly reveal themselves as a sensational guitarist and bassist. In the short term they deserve the fans, the tours, the experience, the money, but they'll know when its time for them to move on, and so will the Fox God.

If Yui truly left Babymetal to reach for her own status and fame she must feel really stupid about that decision now, wouldn't she? Heard nothing from her since 2018, when she left the freaking band. Also, why is Suzuka the lead member to you? Do you think of bands as only the singer? Not the collective that makes it all happen? And I'm pretty sure Moa knows she is irreplaceable to the fans, as she saw the response from them when Yui officially left. She simply has no reason to feel second to Suzuka. Fans even complained about there being a "Kami Band West" instead of just the original Kami Band as they felt as if that would make them seem replaceable. Suzuka is not the most important thing about Babymetal. The fans proof that it's about the collective. Now... I command you to smile and cheer as you gaze upon Riho and Momoko dancing!!!!

Of course they're a team, but Su tends to be perceived (I put it no stronger than that) as the leader. She is the one fans call 'The Queen'. Moa's voice is not much in evidence on Metal Galaxy, and she's not a guitar shredder. Her contribution is her personality, her stage presence, her dance moves, her interaction with Su. I'm certainly not saying she is 'Andrew Ridgeley' and Su is 'George Michael' if you get what I mean, but its not 'Robert Plant' and 'Jimmy Page' either. As for Yui, yes she had to stop for some health problems, but it gave her the 'time out' to reflect on her future path. I hope she is keeping a low profile, getting her life balance back, writing, singing, playing an acoustic guitar, taking her time, and will come back as a unique artist with her own style, like a tomato-eating caterpillar that goes away and comes back as a butterfly. Don't forget these girls all lost 10 years of being 'normal' teenagers, a two year sabbatical is well earned. If she came back she would be welcomed ecstatically, she must know that. My darkest fear is that she feels too alienated from the business to return, or has a health problem that is not being cured after all.
i really love Momoko but Riho won this one. Momo is so good with the happy and energetic songs, but Riho is a strong and precise dancer, a style that fits very well with this song

You know what bugs me? Riho is far and away the most talented of the avengers, but they always seem to have by far the most fun with momoko. I would prefer if riho got a third spot, but I can almost surefire bet who they would really pick

That's strange, didn't Riho and Su grow up together? I thought I read something about them being long time friends. Plus Momoko is a fair bit younger than Moa and Su, so you'd expect them to get on better with Riho.

@....... That's what makes her perfect for Babymetal though. Cuz she's always on task. But occasionally you see her break since su and moa are always goofing around. Riho reminds me of yui in that regard. Momoko is very goofy, and while that's awesome, it shifts that dynamic. But riho is definitely the most talented and experienced of the avengers without question

I think in terms of dancing, which is the bulk of the current role, Momoko is the better dancer, but Riho is the better performer. When I watch Riho I can tell that she's doing movements precisely but the Babymetal choreography is meant to be more natural, which Momoko does better. You can see it most clearly at the start of the video, where Momoko is definitely doing the choreography smoother, but Riho puts emphasis and personality into her movements that makes her fun to watch. I think it's less a matter of a skill difference and more a matter of a difference in experience, in terms of the type of dancing that they've done before, so the question is really whether Riho adapts faster than Momoko gains confidence--as well as their personal dynamics with the original members, of course, as well as where the band is going.

July 2020 - Kano is now with the Idol group, @onefive, and they just released a music video. Riho has been chatting with fans on Instagram, and said she was not returning as an Avenger. I have heard nothing about Momoko... hmmm.. she did say her ambition was "I want to be a dancer for an artist." Only the Fox God Knows.

The two dancers are excellent. But I think they keep the place open for Youi if she wants to come back. Observation why Momoko does not participate in interviews ? The fact remains that once again Suzuka shows us the flexibility and the power of her voice.

Wouldn't make sense to bring Yui back now. It was her decision to leave, she's been gone for over 2 years, they've done a whole new album without her, and all the avengers have been putting in work and doing a fantastic job since she left. I don't think it would be fair on Riho, Momoko etc. to say "Yui wants to come back now, see ya."

@@billietheone9495 To be honest, no I haven't. I've never watched any SG, or any idol anything. I'd barely even consider myself a Babymetal fan, I just find them interesting and see a lot of potential. So I'm by no means the best person to talk about this, and I'm fully willing to admit that you know better than me here. I just know that Riho has an extensive background in singing, while Momoko was a model/actress, so I assumed Riho would be the better singer. But then again I haven't seen anything from them pre-babymetal. If Momoko has been singing as well, then I wouldn't know that, but I'm sure she'd do a decent job as well. After all it's not up to me or you, it's Koba's decision at the end of the day.

If Yui truly left Babymetal to reach for her own status and fame she must feel really stupid about that decision now, wouldn't she? Heard nothing from her since 2018, when she left the freaking band. Also, why is Suzuka the lead member to you? Do you think of bands as only the singer? Not the collective that makes it all happen? And I'm pretty sure Moa knows she is irreplaceable to the fans, as she saw the response from them when Yui officially left. She simply has no reason to feel second to Suzuka. Fans even complained about there being a "Kami Band West" instead of just the original Kami Band as they felt as if that would make them seem replaceable. Suzuka is not the most important thing about Babymetal. The fans proof that it's about the collective. Now... I command you to smile and cheer as you gaze upon Riho and Momoko dancing!!!!

@@cortanaalbion1328 No disrespect meant to any of them, they're all amazing. But thanks for engaging with the question. Of course they're a team, but Su tends to be perceived (I put it no stronger than that) as the leader. She is the one fans call 'The Queen'. Moa's voice is not much in evidence on Metal Galaxy, and she's not a guitar shredder. Her contribution is her personality, her stage presence, her dance moves, her interaction with Su. I'm certainly not saying she is 'Andrew Ridgeley' and Su is 'George Michael' if you get what I mean, but its not 'Robert Plant' and 'Jimmy Page' either. As for Yui, yes she had to stop for some health problems, but it gave her the 'time out' to reflect on her future path. I hope she is keeping a low profile, getting her life balance back, writing, singing, playing an acoustic guitar, taking her time, and will come back as a unique artist with her own style, like a tomato-eating caterpillar that goes away and comes back as a butterfly. Don't forget these girls all lost 10 years of being 'normal' teenagers, a two year sabbatical is well earned. If she came back she would be welcomed ecstatically, she must know that. My darkest fear is that she feels too alienated from the business to return, or has a health problem that is not being cured after all.

You know what bugs me? Riho is far and away the most talented of the avengers, but they always seem to have by far the most fun with momoko. I would prefer if riho got a third spot, but I can almost surefire bet who they would really pick

That's strange, didn't Riho and Su grow up together? I thought I read something about them being long time friends. Plus Momoko is a fair bit younger than Moa and Su, so you'd expect them to get on better with Riho.

Hard to say. I prefer riho for sure. Momoko just reminds me of old school moa while riho reminds me of old school su or yui on stage

I assumed they would get along better with Momoko because she's from Sakura Gakuen, if I'm not mistaken, so she shares that background with Moa and Su.

@....... That's what makes her perfect for Babymetal though. Cuz she's always on task. But occasionally you see her break since su and moa are always goofing around. Riho reminds me of yui in that regard. Momoko is very goofy, and while that's awesome, it shifts that dynamic. But riho is definitely the most talented and experienced of the avengers without question

I think in terms of dancing, which is the bulk of the current role, Momoko is the better dancer, but Riho is the better performer. When I watch Riho I can tell that she's doing movements precisely but the Babymetal choreography is meant to be more natural, which Momoko does better. You can see it most clearly at the start of the video, where Momoko is definitely doing the choreography smoother, but Riho puts emphasis and personality into her movements that makes her fun to watch. I think it's less a matter of a skill difference and more a matter of a difference in experience, in terms of the type of dancing that they've done before, so the question is really whether Riho adapts faster than Momoko gains confidence--as well as their personal dynamics with the original members, of course, as well as where the band is going.
July 2020 - Kano is now with the Idol group, @onefive, and they just released a music video. Riho has been chatting with fans on Instagram, and said she was not returning as an Avenger. I have heard nothing about Momoko... hmmm.. she did say her ambition was "I want to be a dancer for an artist." Only the Fox God Knows.

The two dancers are excellent. But I think they keep the place open for Youi if she wants to come back. Observation why Momoko does not participate in interviews ? The fact remains that once again Suzuka shows us the flexibility and the power of her voice.

I don't think any of the Avengers have participated in the interviews because they're not permanent. And honestly, Yui's been gone for 2 years now. Enough is enough.

Wouldn't make sense to bring Yui back now. It was her decision to leave, she's been gone for over 2 years, they've done a whole new album without her, and all the avengers have been putting in work and doing a fantastic job since she left. I don't think it would be fair on Riho, Momoko etc. to say "Yui wants to come back now, see ya."

both are excellent dancers, both learned the choreography perfectly and work hard I think it is a editing issue it was very hard to do with the flashing lights, it worked better with Oh! Majinai

@@billietheone9495 To be honest, no I haven't. I've never watched any SG, or any idol anything. I'd barely even consider myself a Babymetal fan, I just find them interesting and see a lot of potential. So I'm by no means the best person to talk about this, and I'm fully willing to admit that you know better than me here. I just know that Riho has an extensive background in singing, while Momoko was a model/actress, so I assumed Riho would be the better singer. But then again I haven't seen anything from them pre-babymetal. If Momoko has been singing as well, then I wouldn't know that, but I'm sure she'd do a decent job as well. After all it's not up to me or you, it's Koba's decision at the end of the day.
