Noel's KILLING IT!!!!! He's outstanding just standing!!!!
Phil Judd just looks so handsome here !
Mike Chunn's smile, the way he and Wally horse around and pretend to sing in the background, Noel dancing... my favourite incarnation of the band.
Split Enz transcends any specific genre. they are in a class of their own!!!
I love Noel just standing there in the background
Phil is a genius. I’m so very thankful I found the work of this great man - his art so concisely speaks of and to the depth and breadth of our human condition. The child people, the people of power and awards, will never know.
I'm just a country boy cant you see I'm still green.. I still think is one of your greatest lines

Love it, just brilliant!! .. Mental Notes album has been in my top 10 since 1975!!
I still love the ENZ, never get boring, there is and never will be anything like them! UNIQUE!

Cardiacs do a pretty good job of being like them. Also very unique, unheard of, and never gets boring... kzread.info/dash/bejne/mYKY0LGNpqrIerQ.html
Noel always has me in stitches. He's like someone who hasn't been invited to a fancy-dress party but he's going to gatecrash it anyway. But when he gets there he's not quite sure how to blend in.

The Aussie version of Jamie Muir.
I really love their early music and look .so original
Noel Crombie's value to the group at this early stage was in designing the costumes and sets. He didn't have much to do on stage until later when he took over drums for a while after Mal Green's departure. Split Enz would not have had half their quirkiness without Noel's input.

Luv this band! Brings back memories of when l first saw them as support for Leo Sayer 1974 Melbournes Festival Hall. Also remember them playing spoons.
great band....absolutely incredible....love their music....originality .....if the world was really talent based....Split Enz would be one of the top 5 bands on planet earth......God Bless Split Enz....amazing ....brilliant...etc etc...I have to say more....as a 14 year old boy...I went to both concerts in 1982 at Dunedin town hall....they were mind blowing ....brain explodingly...too good to compare....I have seen all the best groups and artist since then all over the world...Split Enz are as great as the Beatles in my opinion....thank you for being on planet earth and making my life better....you are my favourite band...CH are crap in comparison....CH know it....
My face band back in mid 70's Melbourne BRILLIANT..!!!!
God bless you Phil
Phil Judd is a fucking genius. he’s the secret weapon in the band. not interested in the spotlight, but the heartbeat. just look at the guitar lines played in the first 30 seconds. the perfect foil for the silliness of Crombie & Finn.

Hey now , as always Tim is underrated , he was underrated when Neil came along aswell , Phil and Tim worked amazing TOGETHER, it took both to create this amazing track and all the early enz material and the rest of the lads x
So freakin' brilliant, beyond words brilliant! MORE!!
One word to describe early Enz music "Frantic"
Even for the 70s, the Enz were a strange lot. Of course they did well in San Francisco. I like how Noel has absolutely nothing to do in this video. And he makes no effort to disguise this at all. I like this song.

@@HerrEngels Yup, up 'til the early eighties the set design and clothes were pretty much all Noel.
I'm not joking . . . If these guys were still strutting this stuff I'd get a ticket as soon as they were available. I have a pretty good ear for class original music, and these guys were that. Classy, original and so professional. The outfits and makeup were just the icing on the cake. Really miss these guys.

P.S. . . I'm a life long fan of Frank Zappa, and there was nobody more original than him.
Noel dances just like my grandfather used to dance, at the end there. This is a special moment for me seeing this.
This Classic Enzzzzzzzz!!! Noel and the Crombienation!!!
Just brilliant!
I used to love this played it to death amazing musos the Enz
i love how he starts his dance at about 0:48.
Only Noel Crombie could make standing around and not doing a lot look so cool!
Fave Split Enz song makes me smile every time I see this video thanks
Gotta love mr Judd
These guys are nuts. I love it!!
wow ty so much for this have never seen it before. There are so few enz videos with Phil in them this really was a rare treat.

@@leopugliese6581 Lyrics And if you all had rooms Would you still have room for me? Making the way for you and your dear `ol family tree Like a stormy sky, it's a sad song It's just a point of view, but a true song And if you all looked up Would you still look down on me? I'm just a country boy, can't you see that I'm still green Raising finance for the day we meet Gazing headlong down some empty street Maybe, she'll come along Knock me right off me feet Maybe, please don't be long I need all the help I can get Maybe we'll get it on, ooh lala And when the day breaks In our stately home we'll sit Remembering those nights before our hearts were set Hoping is not enough to live upon Such a far far cry, I can't go wrong Maybe, she'll come along Knock me right off me feet Maybe, please don't be long I need all the help I can get Maybe we'll get it on, oh lala

Good old days
Pure theatre. I Love all those guys. But Eddie always gave them (the music and the song structures) their "colour"!
❤
Ahh Split enz before Neil Finn hijacked the party blissful
I know! They're our kind of nuts too. If you look at where they started and where they ended up it's almost like one day there was critical mass that suddenly "got it". All these years later we still "get it".
you're right. it may have been a telethon. : )
Sounds a lot like Family. I wouldn't be surprised if Finn and Judd are fans.
Nz didn't have colour TV in 75?
Did NZ have a program similar to countdown?

Noel looks like he's about to eat Eddie at roughly 0:41 :D
Noel was totally the inspiration for Mr Bean.
Is it just me or do I hear a lot of Grateful Dead influence on this track. Some of Phil’s riffs are very Garcia-esque
@goodiesguy

Probably not, Grateful Dead mean absolutely nothing here in NZ. I only vaguely know of them due to their name popping up on music forums.
@jamesbowers7343

@@goodiesguy You're likely correct. Jam bands are by and large an American thing. They seem to have virtually no sway outside of the US. Grateful Dead has a devoted fanbase in some parts of mainland Europe, but that is as far as their influence extends.
someone give this a dislike, Swift fan probably. Bless the Enz fans around the world
obviously raided a village clothing/art store that was going out of business...

Look, I'm a Frenz of the Enz to a point, but the clown makeup and quirky facial expressions went a bit too far to the point of desperation. Like some under-appreciated school kid jumping around screaming "look at me!". But perhaps when you come from a relatively obscure island nation at the bottom of the world you do whatever it takes to get noticed. Aussie rock did that a bit as well in the 80s, but really it should come down to raw talent which is ultimately wishful thinking. At least it's way better than all the phoney baloney crap churned out now with autotune and fabricated no-talent airbrushed silliness. At least The Enz shoved forward with blind ambition and do-or-die conviction. Still love that!
