I had this on ps2 played it to death with my sister in co op. My friend had a Xbox with this and one day when I was at his place I asked him if we could play co op and when it booted my jaw dropped I had no idea how much better the Xbox version looked and sounded compared to the ps2 version.

Sadly, this was true of a lot of Xbox games. Sony with their marketing always fools us into believing that we got a good deal with the hardware.

Ubi Soft did a bad job porting their games to GCN. They simply just used the PS2 versions without any big effort. The GCN could do much more. In fact it was almost on par with XBOX, if it was used in the correct way.

PC>PS3>Xbox>GC>PS2 From the looks of it. The problem with the PC version is that although it looks the best, it's a pretty shitty port with some minor bugs and glitches and bad KB&M controls. Also, sometimes it doesn't play nice with newer operating systems like Windows 10 and especially Windows 11. Even playing the PC version on a controller can be a nuisance from time to time because of the way it weirdly maps your controls. The PS3 and Xbox versions are probably the best way to play it. Maybe there's some mods on the PC version that fix/enhance things though.

Yeah, the PS3 version is the best bet to play it with proper widescreen and controller support. Even better, emulating it on PC with RCPS3 at 60fps and resolutions above 4K even.

Xbox can't handle particle effects naturally compared to PS2 reasons you don't see silent hill 3 and mgs3 on Xbox cause mgs2 on Xbox sucks shit frame rate due to particles struggling on Xbox

@@arycorvette884lower fillrate but much more modern hardware I don’t think MGS3 has anything quite fillrate crunching like MGS2, so it may have been fine with enough optimization like toning down and adding some effects more in line with the Xbox hardware

I like the Gameube version.

My favorites are PS2, the version that i played back in 2005, and Xbox that was stunning in that time, and PC that is the better Here comes my veredict PS2: Good version GameCube: Disappointing, could be better Xbox: Stunning PS3: A Xbox port remaster with better resolution and slightly better textures PC: The best here

It's nice to see they bothered to mostly improve the Gamecube version's effects over the Ps2 version. What it lacks in RAM (Hence having the same chopped down levels), its GPU was certainly very capable for the time. Factor Five even claims it surpassed the Xbox's.
