Splatterhouse (Arcade) - Speedrun performed at AGDQ 2015
This was a tough run for me, as this ended up being my first graveyard shift run for a marathon that I had ever done. This run was done on January 7th, 2015... at 4:33AM. I don't know about you, but being a marathon newbie at the time, it was really really hard for me to adjust to playing a video game at a high level with tons of pressure with so little sleep, lol.
Despite the blunders near the start, I feel like the endgame of this run was exciting and tense, making it an overall fun run to watch. Splatterhouse has a technique called the slide kick, which has a couple moving parts to it, but ultimately ends up being both your fastest form of movement, as well as your strongest attack. You need some momentum in the air before being able to use the attack, and you need to hit a variable window every time you need to execute a slide. Most of the boss strategies end up having very unique strategies to them because of these limitations, which makes it a pretty neat speedrun in my opinion.
Anyways, thanks for watching!
