I still just think the stupidest decision they made of all was not allowing _any_ stages to return if they were just in both 1 and 2, as some of those were some of the best… but ye win’s a win

Splatoon 2: Better story dlc, better kits, better maps, better splatfests, better ideals Splatoon 3: Better salmon, better mechanics, better graphics, better base story mode. Personally permanent salmon run and better mechanics give me the edge to 3 but I can’t deny 2 was more hype.

The appearance of the players when they spawn at the start of the match alone is enough to put side by side and see 3’s better, models, textures, lighting, the ink doesn’t look like it’s made of plastic now. yes it’s basically the same, cus it’s the same style yes, 3 is just better done.

As a firm s3 is better fan I can still appreciate a lot of the points in this video, there's a lot to like about the update period and choices. Stages and kits has me torn. I think the stages splatoon 3 is outputting recently dwarf most of 2s but were getting like 3 of them and the reworks aren't making old stages match that. Kit wise I think Splatoon 2s are much worse there are some truly awful choices but they did kind of have a direction with them and I do respect that. Personally while I have my issues with both (esp endgame s2) im still overall happy with the product, there's just a lot to critique with these games.

I'd say that more options, even if they aren't as good, are more likely to be FUN options. Like grim range was very fun for me, the brellas, splat dualies' insane burst combo and more are very FUN for me. Although s2 has a lot more obnoxious options like Ray, missles and armor which lets me say that s3 beats it out. I'm kind of bummed that I missed most of Chaos vs Order since I was abroad but seeing the game grow and develop was very fun. Overall, I think that polished s2 s3

"It was a better time to be a Splatoon fan during the Splatoon 2 era" THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING THANK YOU A part of me was thinking it was mostly because I was a kid in middle/high school during that era and I had irl friends that I played regularly with, but genuinely I haven't felt the same magic that Splat2 had from Splat3. The only times I can distinctly remember feeling that was at launch, the story mode, and around the time Side Order came out. Other than that, I've either felt like it was "good but lacking" or just a sort of emptiness. While I do think the game is mechanically an improvement over the previous two games with Squid Roll alone (and also Squid Surge when it works), between the seasonal model, mediocre stages and questionable kits, post launch support for the game has ranged from alright to frustrating. In terms of Splatfests, while I do find Tricolor fun even when the stage choices are questionable, Shifty Stations were MUCH more interesting of a gimmick and had some of the coolest stage mechanics in the franchise. Maybe Finalfest will bring some of the magic back, but literally everyone expected it to be an Idol Showdown so I don't see it surprising us.

And they hated Rizone for he spoke the truth. I'm tired of having to stay silent about 3's massive flaws because of the toxic positively of the community. You have basically summed up the whole argument in this and your previous videos and I hope they reach more people because it needs to be said. I eagerly await the Side Order video because I also have controversial opinions about it that I hope you can shed light on. OE was perfection and SO was aggressively mid, not only in story but also gameplay considering there are several other rougelites that are far more repayable for the same cost or cheaper.

I think you’ve probably hit every nail on the head on why I prefer splatoon 2. It’s easy to say “it’s just nostalgia” but splatoon 3 just hasn’t given me the experience I gotten from 2 and I don’t think that’s nostalgias fault

One thing that I liked in Splatoon 2 where whenever you win or lose a match, depending on the gender and species of your player, they'd have some sort of unique animation depending on what weapon you chose. I hated that Splatoon 3 didn’t bring back those unique animations, because even though gender doesn’t really exist anymore, it just feels... wrong. I might sound a bit like a bitch based on the way I'm talking abiut it, but I just wanted to get it off my chest for goodness sake.

Side Order was cool on launch, but as the months went by, I've been left with an increasingly prominent, "I waited over a year for this..?" I wasn't around for Octo Expansion's release, but it feels like they did more with less time. Even as a rogue like, I don't think they committed hard enough.

Someone said that S3 is much more orderly compared to the other two games and i feel like that is the best way to describe it. Splatoon 3 itself isn’t chaotic, its just an aesthetic

I'll also say that s2 feels better to play casually. In s3, it feels like I have to play like a tryhard IN TURF WAR, instead of messing around with weapons or leveling up new gear

it's such a minor thing but splatoon 2's splatfests opening up with pearl and marina on the stage and not just on the news screen is something i really miss in three, it just doesn't have that same impact upon opening up the game on splatfests anymore

Im tired of staying silent about the flaws of 3. The map design is awful, the kits are awful, and the seasons add nothing. At the start of sizzle season 24, we will have 3 more kits than s2. A whole THREE in a game that started with all the weapons in the base version. We will also only have one more map than s2 when 3 started with more maps. This means Nintendo added content at a slower rate than they did in s2, and s2 content was already slow. Splatoon 3 is a failure and I hope people will be able to see it in the future. At least s2 was fun casually. S3 isnt fun in comp or casual.

I agree with *Most* of your points. I find the seasonal content system Unessesary, like c'mon its getting repetitive seeing it in ever modern multiplayer game. I don't mind the maps but yes most designs are awful. 2 years and only 2 kits for each weapon? Really since splatoon 2 ive been playing mostly salmon Run so the lack of salmon run content in S3 doesn't bother me. Eggtrawork was fun the *first* time but, my god it is not even worth it to play after realizing how badly designed it is, All that grinding for a golden sticker? Seriously? Why are most of the rewards in the salmon run store cost SO MUCH scales? Side orders story could've been better but i still have alot of fun playing it. The "Connection interupted" & crashing players mid match hasn't happend alot to me so i didn't mind it as much as others. Despite Splatoon 3's MAJOR flaws i still, for 2 years i still have had fun playing it more than Splatoon 2. I respectfully somewhat disagree with your take on Splatoon 3 being a complete failure. For me It's more of "Missied potential" and "what the actual fuck are these devs doing, why are they fumbling this game so hard" for me. It disappointed most of the playerbase but not the sales, I'll say. Im glad most of the people in this comment section are sharing thier opinions and giving this game the valid criticisms it desperately needs instead of being toxic because i remember last year when someone basically called me a Narcissist for defending splatoon 3 because i thought it was funny when he said it was worse than Overwatch 2. Splatoon 2 handled updates, maps/kits, Splatfest theming, and DLC better, but Splatoon 3 made so many great changes that makes the other Splatoon games look a lot more bare

appearance wise, the ink/octoling animations and models fit the "toon" part of "splatoon", the pre-animated hair physics, the silly winning emotes, the runs when in inkopolis square, theyre so cartoony and really fit in for a childrens game about squids shooting ink, while in splatoon 3 they look,,mature and bland.. the hair physics ruin everything imo, the way the tentacles fly everywhere, it looks stupid, the realistic animation and emotes, the stiff run in splatsville, i miss when they were all wobbly and fun to watch,

While I agree with Splatoon 3 having worse live service aspect Splatoon 3 is a huge improvement over Splatoon 2 in terms of gameplay aspects, the only two exceptions being the campaigns and multiplayer maps. The campaigns of Splatoon 2 were better and the maps felt way more open and unique, but that's about it. In Splatoon 3 the kits are way better and unique while in Splatoon 2 the kit was doomed if it had a special like splashdown or curling bomb rush. The special design is way better, people who complain about Tri-zooka haven't experienced Sting ray. The squid roll and squid surge are such massive improvements on the movement system that I can't imagine a future Splatoon game without them. The side modes (Salmon run Next wave and Tableturf) of Splatoon 3 are actually fun and are more replayable. There is an actual incentive to get more in game currency in Splatoon 3, locker decorations, five star clothes, shellout machine, and cleaning gear. Meanwhile in Splatoon 2 once you reached level 50 The shops start having nothing of value. There's also way more to strive for inbetween updates like getting five stars on your favorite weapons, getting salmon run badges and scales, as well as leveling up in tableturf. More minor improvements: Victory emotes, spawning system, adjusting gear, challenges, more character customization, more weapons overall, swapping out main perks on gear, and it's way easier to obtain chunks. There are things to appreciate in Splatoon 2 over Splatoon 3 but there are numerous improvements that make so I am way happier with the current gameplay of Splatoon 3 than Splatoon 2.

@@henrydikeman2692 To be fair, that last part is 100% optional. I like Splatoon's platforming too, but in that instance, I'd just play Return of the Mammalians which still has plenty of platforming levels but with Octo Expansion's more interesting formula.

Honestly what kills my enjoyment of Splatoon 3 the most FOR ME, it's how this game has a severe lack of polish compared to Splatoon 2, there is more bugs visual issues and inconsistencies that simply didn't exist in that game... Trees not being paintable, the background jellies at 5 fps etc...

I really dislike a lot of Splatoon 2's choices and design ideas but GOD did this game feel like after 3.0.0 it was the best time to get into the series. every month there would be a new update, the leaked 2nd kits datamines were fun to see, the lore dumps in the artbooks, the new weapons and QOL life updates, OCTO EXPANSION RELEASE TRAIN ugh, release trailer, the slow drip of info where people translated so many interviews just to get a crumb of new info about what its gonna be like, the Octoboy playtesting era, the ANNOUNCEMENT of it dropping tomorrow after the World Finals along with the announcement of content extension and FINALLY getting a new slosher/splatling. the other 2 new weapons getting randomly dropped in august. the KENSA TRAILER. the splatfest changes and deluxe fest getting shown for the first time. the map rework reveals. the sheldon picks randomly getting announced at koshin like LORD... FINAL FEST BEING ANNOUNCED. and then the splatfest reruns being announced during 2020. one thing during splatoon 2's era is they MADE you feel like you were feel like you paid 120$ instead of 60$. they would say "heres a plate of cake oh wait now here's a donut and now heres a cupcake. oh wait did you want more cake ok heres a whole new double layered one. also SURPRISE! heres a bonus cake!"

I my favorite mode in splatoon is salmon run and they made it 10 times better in splatoon 3 .

I think both games have their Strengths and Weaknesses. But… Maybe wrong should be more nice to Splatoon 2 than before. Also yes, Octo Expansion is objectively one of the best DLC!

I prefer 3 over 2 but 2 is better in the long term. Splatoon 2 has that addictive factor that keeps you coming back for more, where as 3 is good but only in bursts. 3 had better salmon run, main campaign, and mechanics. But 2 had better maps, DLC, kits, and splatfests. If only we could have tricolor in shifty stations… It seems to me like Nintendo experimented with 3. While it worked in some ways, it didn’t in others. I hope splatoon 4’s updates are more like 2’s if it happens.

Being new to splatoon I'm hoping Splatoon 4 can have S3 quality of life changes while being more like S2 with the quality and quantity.

Splatoon 2's the only Splatoon game where I did not play throughout it's lifetime. I got it at launch, played a little bit, but quit because it's so frustrating. I did not like PvP as the special design was terrible, nothing was powerful by themselves and armor was a necessity. Salmon Run was restrictive. And the base game story mode was completely unengaging as it was just a repeat of 1's. It all felt like a lesser experience than 1 that I quit and didn't get to experience the Splatfests beyond Ketchup vs Mayo. I didn't play Octo Expansion (Peak of the Franchise) until I was starting to get hyped for Splatoon 3. I've got my gripes with 3 but I find it a lot more fun to play than 2.

Yeah, that's a commonplace thought due to how people sort the stuff into "good" or "servicable, but little payoff for little effort on the devs' part".

I knew exactly what this was gonna be as soon as I saw this was from your channel, and I think I agree with your points. Splatoon 3 is a more fun game to play, in my experience, but Splatoon 2 really beat them in the story department, the community building, the overall experience. You can kind of tell it’s a new group of devs working on 3 because the vibe is just different. It’s more standard. It’s a good game, like Overwatch. But the updates feel more generic. The maps feel generic. The stories have felt generic (and just plain bad) Splatoon 2 was a vibe that 3 can’t match. I think that’s not too controversial to say. I miss the days when Octo Expansion felt like the beginning of the ambitious new directions they were gonna take the series in, and since then it’s just felt like schlock. Glad to see you talking about this.

yeah i defiantly agree. i also hate how splatoon 3s obsession with limited time events. big run and splatfests are fine but challenges have no reason to be an event which is the bulk of pvp content they have been adding since they've basically said they wont add another ranked mode. their are so many challenges like modded rainmaker test firing that i would have love to try but i cant because of the awkward event window. hopefully Nintendo has gotten these limited time events out of their system by the time splatoon 4 comes around and we can have a new ranked mode or some casual pvp content that we can play at any time.

I mean, comparing the team working on this game to Splatoon 2, Nintendo EPD without Monolith Soft had to rush for just two games in 2022 with 4 games in 2021. This is also because of COVID-19 and many games they work previously like Animal Crossing : New Horizons.

Also in terms of looks i love splatoon 2 more, it's bright, vibrant, having that new and fresh feeling if you play from Splatoon 1. Especially maybe the lobby, even though splat 3 has more wide lobby. Idk what's wrong with splatoon 3 shader, some of them looks half baked, like the table turf area.

@@octokraken6359 Yh 2’s vibe like the rest of the game felt like 1 perfected imo But 3 seemed like it wanted to replace that vibe with a more anarchic, mad max vibe I was totally up for that with all the trailers but once the game released and looking at some of the concept art and the finalfest gear it’s clear the game didn’t live up to the promised aesthetic The idols, the maps, they barely reflect chaos and anarchy yet those words are hammered into the game such as anarchy battle instead of “ranked”

Eh, imo if you're a sequel and you're not exceeding your predecessor comfortably then the predecessor is objectively better. EG Pokémon Platinum is objectively better than BDSP because it was released 10 years before and has some significant features over BDSP. The QoL improvements in BDSP do not improve enough to justify the lack of progress.

man I miss Splatoon 2 Shifty Station. they made splatfests SO much more exciting and every round had a lot of hype/anticipation on whether you'll get Shifty Station or not. Tri-color is great and all and it's certainly unique, and the fizzbangs are just ok imo, but I don't feel they bring as much as Shifty Station did

One thing that 2 did better was be better for casuals. At the seeming expense of comp teams, 2 was way way slower than 1 and 3. Personally I think getting 1 tapped by weapons isn't fun and cooler does not help that at all. Having ink armor and most 1 shot weapons like blasters and rollers be worse made that easier. Having slower movement and wider maps also allowed slower players to react easier as aside from global range specials which until late in the game most weapons could not use to their full effectiveness, threats across the map stayed across the map for a while. (example: neo sploosh fired a bunch of missiles at the cost of literally every fighting stat. Kshot fired a bunch of missiles at the cost of... nothing that weapon did everything) With the bad matchmaking and just overall speed I hear a lot more complaints at the start until now of games just snowballing in ways that didnt happen in 2 beside some rm maps. 3 expresses skill while 2 buffered skill to allow more evenness. Edit: I am more refering to mid s2, current s2 is pain. If s1 is smash melee and s2 is brawl then s2 shooters are meta knight.

I’m gonna be honest and I might be attacked but I am definitely disappointed by almost everything Splatoon 3 offers. I don’t really care about graphics I care more about story which Side Order didn’t give too much & it saddens me out considering that I was somebody who anticipated it every single day and then it went through a weird change. There wasn’t much story but I’m not saying the DLC isn’t fun but I’m kind of dissatisfied with the result of the game. Especially with the customization rewards. I also didn’t enjoy the hero mode considering that it felt very recycled content. I just like Splatoon 2 better honestly but then again I might be viewing it as a masterpiece because that was my childhood so🤷 also I really don’t like the 3rd games models. I don’t like the idea of them being more expressive considering in the last games there kind of “NPC expressions”. I also just really don’t like the changes. There’s a lot of new fans which fine whatever but they say s3 is the best one and it bothers me. I know it’s a little selfish but it’s just something that annoys me. Splatoon 2 Springfest my beloved

i missed the splatoon 2 splatfests joining in 2018 and not playing in them. splatoon 2 was the only game that engrossed me so much i lost my perception of time: the multiplayer, ark polaris and the dlc AEUGH THE DLC, but splatoon 3, i have to force myself to get the daily xp, bro the FOMO doesnt even keep me on anymore :,(

Splatoon 3 is TECHNICALLY better in terms of gameplay, balance and content but the Splatoon 2 era just hit DIFFERENT. Add that to the fact that Splatoon 2 added and polished Splatoon 1 by so much. On a side note, imo we had better KZread content back then on Splatoon. No hate to the splatubers today, but I think everyone takes this game way too serious now? Idk, I might just be yapping but this video perfectly summarises my feelings on this franchise atm

I like Splatoon 3 more overall, but I hate the update cycle for it. Carbon Deco, Custom E-Liter, and now Custom Range all have the same kits from Splatoon 1. I don't have a problem with them reusing the same kits, but I don't understand why we have to wait multiple seasons for them to release kits that are basically complete.

i got splatoon 2 right before the final fest, but i didnt really start playing the game until right after the final fest so i never got to experience the game during its live service aside from the rerun splatfests. But even with just the reruns, they were SO fun. Maybe it was just because it was my first splatfests but i remember sitting and staring at my tv playing the ketchup v mayo splatfest for actual HOURS on end. The first splatoon 3 splatfest i had a similar experience but it was no where NEAR as fun and there has been a sharp decline for me. Rarely do i even get to ruler anymore. HOWEVER splatoon 3 as a game itself has still been hella fun. And even if its gotten very VERY stale by now, it was still fun in its prime, and seeing the entire life cycle of 3 has been a blast. I have many critiques but based off of my experiences alone, 3 outweighs 2 easily. But even then I still wish i was there for the lifespan of 2, it sounded so much fun.

Find someone who likes side order more than octo expansion? Sure! I prefer side order over octo expansion, it literally almost brought me to tears vs octo expansion which just felt like a chore to complete for me.

I’m fairly new to the splatoon franchise and picked 2 up for a low price , I didn’t think I’d like it too much but I loved it , never played the third one but your probably right

IMO: Splatoon 2 has less dcs, less communication errors, a better DLC, better secret boss and not to mention third kits.

one thing ive preferred 2 to 3 over is the artistic direction. as the series has progressed the art has gone from really rough-looking to super refined-- which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it feels way too polished compared to the art in 2 and 3 and kinda goes against the whole chaos thing going on. for example look at the h2whoa album cover vs the ink theory album cover. the h2whoa art is AMAZING but it just feels... too polished? for splatoon? if that makes sense? a lot of the artistic direction in 1 comes from the rough skater surfer rebellious vibes, and you could tell with the art and the music. in 2, that same direction is carried over but with the littlest bit of refinement to add to the "cool" vibe. in 3, it just feels like the artists got too good at the art (not a bad thing haha) and decided to focus on over-polishing it instead of purposefully scuffing it up to fit the chaos vibes. idunno thats just me :p

To be honest I play this game almost excludively for Salmon Run, which is better than it was in 2. I can’t say much about PvP because I HATE PvP in this game… You’re probably right that it was better in 2. Bad maps, full of tryhards, and don’t even get me started on the godawful gear and Sheldon license systems!

Okay, so for me I got into Splatoon really late. Only really trying it when a friend goaded me into playing the 3 Demo. Afterwards I went and played 2. And I have to say I really liked 2 much more than 3, except that playing my favorite weapon the splatling is torture in it. I and supremely sad and disappointed that I'll possibly NEVER get the experience the amazing wonder that was the Shifty Stations.

The interactive lobby and replay mode are 2 of my main reasons why I think 3 > 2.

I’m probably nostalgic but I agree. The ink just feels better too. It’s so much more vibrant. The specials are more fun, the gameplay just feels different. There are definitely pros in 3, like camera mode, lockers, customization, etc. The nostalgia is probably impacting me though.

I personally enjoy splatoon 3 more because its just more fun. While the maps suck the kits (to me) are really fun even they are not good in competitive. I LOVE the special design in 3 each special feels like they have equal ways to get value and counter it (however I won’t deny some specials are worse than others) and most feel so fun and satisfying to use compared to 2. For splatfest it honestly dont really know which I like more I enjoy both (obviously shifiy stations are a cooler gimmick but I still enjoy tricolor). The point I agree on in the video is the community isn’t as hype as it was in 2, 3 obviously has had its hype moments but the community in 2 just felt better but I don’t think its 3’s fault, we just grew up and we have to accept that.

1:23 - 1:35 funnily enough, I literally got S2 at the last second just in time _for_ the final fest, and even tho I didn’t quite understand the context having not played Octo Exp., knowing killer wail wasn’t in 2 still made it so I know _exactly_ what you mean. 2:53 - 3:09 guess I knew this was coming 2:38 For clarity I too know there will be no content extension, or at least not one like we hoped for, am can’t believe when people now still do think there’ll be, don’t worry, I think so too. BUT, tbch, even with how things look, I still will not lose all hope for certain no 3rd kits will happen until it’s literally all over, simply because of, as Chara said, the 3rd kits like Sheldon’s have always dropped at unexpected, sudden, and late times, so I still won’t have much faith, but unlike an extension which is basically certain, I say we still just hold on and see til the end for 3rd kits, as they alone would increase my favouritism of 3 by like 55%, they still might not happen, but don’t write to their loved ones just yet is all I say. 3:40 - 3:50 finally someone addresses it, honestly i’m literally more upset with the quantity of maps in the game than the quality (even if i’m the only one) 4:49 - 5:02 (last 2 seconds especially) well, its nothing special to think OE’s story is better than SO’s (cus it is), but that’s actually quiiite hot of a take ya got there that defo is just an opinion, but even then that’s all good, I’m guessing you’d just be referring to parts _of_ the lore anyhow, since even if ya do find SO’s story bad overall (fair), there are some particular parts about it I don’t get how one could think were done bad, but… well, I guess that’s where wise men _end_ the conversation 😅 As for the video’s case overall, even I as possibly the most avid (or at least, desperate) S2 defender still believe 3 to be the best, singleplayer, salmon, mechanics, other stuff in the rest of the game, etc. Nevertheless, I’m always ecstatic to hear some praise for 2, and thank you for making it’s merits apparent again. Even for the stuff I can’t concur with, I’m with the guy who said 100% respect regardless.

I'd honestly say aside from QOL changes that just come from being the newer game in any series, there's nothing Splatoon 3 does better than either of the other two games. The gameplay I'd say has gotten worse with every entry. Splatoon 2 still has the two best storymodes and 3 has the two worst ones. Splatoon 2's Salmon Run didn't feel as balll crushing as Splatoon 3's. Content was better distributed in the other two. Splatoon 1 has the best balancing with 2 being decent at it as well. Even some of the more arbitrary things like the idols, I think 3 still made good ones, but they've done them the worst with Deep Cut getting sidelined in their own game by the Squid Sisters in the base game and Off the Hook centering the whole DLC while Deep Cut got nothing in their own game. Even the localization of 3 has been the worst. 1, and 2 especially, the localization added a lot of flavor while not (most of the time) straying too far to mean something entirely different. Meanwhile with 3, it's closer to more direct translations which leads to stuff like Marina's character and dialogue being WAAAAY worse than it was in Splatoon 2. Even besides all of this, Splatoon 3 was even the only game (so far) that had no purpose to exist. They did NOT need to end support of 2 as soon as they did, but they did because the team can only afford to work on Animal Crossing OR Splatoon. Splatoon 1 was a great first title, and Splatoon 2 may not have been the best at first, but it really came to form its own with updates and DLC, and was necessary to get Splatoon onto this new system of the Switch. Splatoon 3 is just the consequences of the team behind Splatoon and AC's bad work ethics that come from them being too understaffed to do what they should be doing. Splatoon 3 is still in desperate need of one real good DLC to make it a true sequel game and not some half-sequel, but we're not going to get that because of how bad the development of Splatoon 3 and Side Order has been. They're going to opt instead for getting a Splatoon 4 ready to release on their next console. Which, is a good reason for a new sequel compared to 3, but it just cements how completely unnecessary and badly handled both Splatoon 3 and the Splatoon series is being handled by NIntendo.

As much as I love what splatoon 3 added, splatoon 2's update cycle was better than 3's! Like you mentioned, the Shifty stations were amazing and very fun to play! 3's maps were mostly tetris blocks and it wasn't until hitting the one year anniversary that they got a bit better at making them! Robo-romen gets my crown for best designed map as it has actual flank routes and lots of verticality!

I came into this expecting to disagree but I actually really get all of your points Personally for me my biggest thing I prefer s2 over 3 is the overall vibe (bear with me) I really am not a fan of the more heavy older feeling vibe of s3 and while I prefer s1s vibe to either game s3 is easily my least favorite This is extremely subjective I know and maybe its tainted by nostalgia a lot but it really bothers me

when i quit playing Splatoon 2 it was because the teenage mutant ninja turtles splatfests burnt me out, while in splatoon 3 the presentation and meta aspects of the game made it feel so much worse to lose to the point where i couldn't play the game without feeling awful. the fact that you are shown the enemy team taunting you rather than your team being in despair contributed a lot to that, and the matchmaking is so awful that, after losing way too many times, i finally got a winning streak, and all i could feel was "this is just a respite between the hell this game is". this isn't even mentioning the sheer grind and FOMO aspects that are all over in splatoon 3, with salmon run especially having way too much of a grind to where it feels unobtainable. i should not require a thousand hours for a fucking cosmetic. the closest i can compare it to is the endless rewards in SMM2, where you have to clear 1000 levels on easy or normal in order to get certain hoodies. it's way too long of a grind to where when i finally got it, the reward wasn't so much the hoodie anymore but rather the fact that i never have to play endless easy ever again. and that's probably less of a grind than what's in salmon run. these aspects that made me quit the game were not present in 2, and the reason i quit 2 was because of mismanagement of one aspect at one point in time. there's so much mismanagement in 3 to where i don't want to play anymore, it's a spectator sport for me now.

Agree Imo 2 is better cuz Decent map design and kits Good fest themes and shifty stations More cohesive art direction Less recycled content Splatoon is a casual shooter first and the maps in 3 do not reflect that 2 did start this after doing without 1’s more fun and less balanced design but 3 cemented it I hope Splatoon has more fun design (with balancing) and is less formulaic through release methods and gameplay in the future And big run is boring af

Splatoon 2 was probably more innovative but Splat 3 clears imo, especially in regards to single player content and Salmon Run. I really enjoy Big Run, especially during the old scoring system. I also never want to go back to a game with Ink Armor, Sting Ray, and Missiles all in the same game.

If Splatoon 3 had the private battle customization that Splat 2 had, the game would be significantly better, we should also be able to do the challenges in private matches. I miss shifty stations

Although i was there for all of splat 2 i couldnt tell you a single splatfest stage 💀 anyway my opinion on this is that splatoon 2 had way better and more interesting updates than 3 and a better dlc but splat 2 made me hate ranked so much (especially clam blitz) that i kinda just didnt play ranked in splat 3 but i can see how someone would prefer the second game to 3 The 1st is the best tho...

The season format has wrecked free updates in Splatoon 3 - that is the root of the issue.

I like the customisation available in Splatoon 3. There’s a lot you can be awarded with. I like salmon run: next wave too. The slammin’ lid is fun to fight and adds a lot. The flipper flopper is just a distraction most of the time. The fish stick is also usually just a distraction, but the high ground it fun. Gus is neat. I don’t see him very much but his mortar is convenient. I’ve never beaten a king salmonid before. The new grizzco uniforms look really cool. Big run wasn’t very interesting. I haven’t done eggstra work before.

I agree that the weapon kits in 2 are better but it doesn’t really matter is the meta forces you to only play certain ones

Splatoon 2 without a shadow of a doubt is the better game. Better map design than 3 better kits than in 3 better DLC singleplayer. The music in 2 i prefer i prefer the visuals of 2 Splatfests were way better in 2 and way more balanced. The only things i can say 3 has a leg up on compared to 2 are salmon run. And the base game singleplayer. And while this is a personal preferance id much rather fight missile spam from 2 than play against crab and bubbler and vac. Those specials all feel god awful to fight. Way more than missiles ever did imo. Also splat 2 was a much less buggy game.

In my opinion the worst part about splatoon 3 is the music. Why would they replace Wet Floor? Are they stupid?

I like some of 3’s tracks but wet floor are my favourite band so I do miss them

S2 was one of my favorite games ever... until i saw ink armor out of S3. I know S3 has huge problems with splatfests, kits and even more problems with maps. But imo the salmon run changes, the playable lobby and the removal of SHITTY mechanics like MPU, stingray and armor made S3 more enjoyable to play

Splatoon 3 can best be summed up as a game of missed potential I think. The foundation was always the most solid of any splatoon game thus far, but the developers just haven't done enough with it to keep the game exciting compared to past games. Challenges as an example had (and honestly still have) the potential to be the most hype thing in all of splatoon, there's a reason we were all so excited by that first sizzle season trailer. But then they were handled worse than splatoon 2 salmon run ever was, to the point where they don't even show off the new challenges in trailers anymore. And same goes for so many other things like kits: splatoon 2 had plenty of awful kits, but it didn't hurt as much because by now you would have gotten your third kit already (and it would still be awful if you mained dapple dualies lol). I can only hope that maybe they're playing the long game with 3 this time around. Because for all of Splatoon 3's lows, I don't think it was ever as bad as the state that 2 was left in. Imagine if splatoon 3 ended up being like the mario kart 8 deluxe of the switch successor, getting support way longer than anyone expected was possible. It's quite a stretch, but I think the game is in a much better position for that than 2 ever was. Plus like, it would take around 9 years for anyone to get the level 999 badge anyway, so that's only fair lol.

Ink Armor? Stingray? Way more powerful Tenta Missiles? No throwing eggs in Salmon Run? Worse camera controls? No squid surging or squid rolling?

Personally, I prefer the game play of 3 better for online (ik shocker), but splatoon 2 had those vibes, and my beloved N-Zap 89 kit with auto and missiles.

I actually think side order is better ngl I bought the expansion pass, and i absolutely loved it I heard everyone keep saying octo expansion is better, so i bought it to have try it out. Sure the cut scenes, music and story is better, but side order seems higher quality and more polished

I feel splatoon 3 is better but really not by much. The main reason it takes the cake for me is because salmon run is unquestionably better and there’s simply more content. However splatoon 2 does win with the paid dlc and honestly i feel the main campaign from splatoon 2 is also better then the one from splatoon 3.

I may not agree with everything said but although it was a well put together video either way, keep up the good work
