As someone who played the Splatoon 1 story mode for thr first time a month before the servers shutdown, I loved how different the DJ Octavio boss fight is in Splatoon 1. It is an actual hard fight, and because you don't have the timer armor thing, it makes positioning really hard. The fight feels a little to long, but its mechanically my favorite final fight in a Splatoon story mode. There's a certain level of auto pilot whenever i look back on Mr Grizz, and I never want to replay any Splatoon 2 main story levels ever again after 100% it a few weeks ago (i started when i got my switch and Splatoon 2 around my birthday 2018, so 6 YEARS AGO) and while Octo Expansion is cool, its more so an objective fight rather then a 1v1. I love that 1v1 vibe so much OMFG. It's a sudden difficulty spike for sure, but i think its actually a positive one because the game hasn't really tried to challenge you much until then
