Truthfully the overtones weren’t that horrible . I mean for an entry level snare I’d play it for sure. Also like the kit behind ya, I’m a PDP guy myself.

I had this snare and I'm excited about your review. I liked it because of the color blue it had some really nice hardware on it and It had 10 lugs and I thought how bad can it be I also caught it on sale.

I actually played this at the store. It was nice. I was concerned that it was poplar, so I didn't buy it, but I probably should have!!

I think this is a great drum for the price. I bought one with GC employee discount. So about $50. I would have kept it but I have 2 other 14x8’s both Ludwig’s. And didn’t need this SPL.

Budget snares are the best. I have a steel shell yamaha 6x14($75). It's the most played snare on projects that I'm called in on

I totally understand how you feel. 2 things...1...What type of battery head are you using?....2...Are you going for a big phat sound or a tight cracking sound?

@@ajwhite1077 more of a fat sound. My practice space is on a garage so it's tough to get a good sound out of anything lol. I just put a new Evans head on but I took it off cuz it just wasn't sounding good at all. I put my old Aquarium head back on and new snare wires. Cranked the snare side head really really tight and now I can live with the sound but man what a process 🤣. It's just a hobby for me, been at it for the past two years and I didn't want to spend a lot of money

@@JESSEPINKMAN74 try a Remo Powerstroje 3 Coated(2 ply). Define the bottom head. Tighten the battery head just enough. Play it a few times and tune it from there.

I want to buy one of these snares so I can replace the shell with a Keller maple. Reason being, the hardware would cost more than the snare drum, add a 90 dollar Keller shell, it would be pro level!

I’m looking for a cheap snare for a fat dead snare sound for a small church. I don’t want projection…. And this looks better than an old Gretsch mahogany. How you liking it?

Thanks. I think I’ll pick it up tomorrow. It sounds perfect for me. If you need more projection in a cheap snare, the 8x14 Supralite absolutely kills and you can find them open box on eBay for $140 sometimes.

I was actually gonna buy that snowdrum but it really sounds awful Moongells are for people who don't know how to tune drums you should never have to muffle a drum you should be able to get the right sound out of the right head selection tuning tuning snare tightness Muffling the drum to get rid of the unwanted overtones means you you have uneven tension L UGS Take more time when junior it'll be nice to hear that drum sound good I know it can and with the snare wires you should not probably change them you should definitely change them 23 and wire on that deep of a snooze room is not needed for that if you want to have a good articulate sound while still providing a good track I would suggest Using pure sound at least a 30 to 42 strand His breast ones with Megan sound really good at Then you could upgrade the hoops to for instance Gibraltar universal A millimeter triple flange power hoop And change the heads to an actual good head they are not Reno heads they say remo but they are made in China good drum heads are Made in the USA USA anyways if you do all that you should get the drum sounding nice you should not have to muffle it or Mike it with improper mike's just to get more umph out of it If you're gonna make a video don't cut corners do things the right way properly tune in and really suggest where they cut corners and what you could do to upgrade the drum to a fully professional don't talk snack about it just because you don't know how to make it sound good

There’s more to muffling than fixing overtones. Sometimes it’s about cutting sustain or getting a fatter sound without compromising the feel of your drum.
