yeah man... old school hockey stories are the best..... can you imagine what the hockey players from today will have to tell 30 years from now? i can only imagine the bunch of PC bullshit...boring as hell....i saw the Auston Matthews interview ..29 minutes.... of just talking about what he did that year...nothing to laugh at ...

I remember watching hockey back in the 60's and 70's as a Montreal fan. Being so long ago, I sometimes question the accuracy of how I remember the game being. Derek confirmed that I remember it accurately. It was such a different game. The rosters really didn't change much from year to year. Every player tough as nails. And Bobby Orr. He was just so much better than every other player. Sanderson? Easily the most hated Bruin to a Montreal fan. Thanks Chiclets for bringing in a true legend of hockey!

I grew up in the bay area and we had the Oakland Seals. I got to see all the great in 71 and 72. I got to meet Gordie Howe on a rainy day. We got ring side seats and my brothers waved at him and he came over to us. signed our program and I asked him a stupid question. "What's it like to have a steel plate in your head?" He said "Ir's cold" and then we said thanks and he skated away. My brother put a Seals sticker on the back of Canadians Goal Tender when they came back and he played part of a period with it on his back.

Great guy. Some of his ideas are stuck in the past. There are reasons the back-pass isn’t used as much anymore. It’s become less effective. Same with slap shots. There is less time and space now. A back-pass gives a goalies and defenders more time. The slap shot gives defenders more time to defend. Of course sometimes it’s the best play so both are still utilized in the modern game.

Derek Sanderson was a great hockey player. He had great speed on the ice and he once scored 28 goals for the Bruins in 1970 and won a Stanley Cup for the Boston Bruins in 1970 along with Bobby Orr. But he had a major drug and alcohol problems. Drugs and alcohol near killed him. Boston management should check on him. Shame on Boston Bruins coach Harry Sinden and the owner. Harry Sinden did not care about his players. He was a mean and nasty man. Pro hockey in the 1960s and 70s was a criminal organization. Fighting should never be allowed in hockey. Fighting should be considered assault and battery. If I was an NHL commissioner, Any fighting that results in serious injury should be suspended for 2 months without and a 19 day jail sentence. Fighting results in concussion, head injuries and CTE. Shame on NHL players and coaches. They should ban from the NHL

6:45 Never seen anyone take the puck off Orr. 9:41 Value of being able to skate without thinking about your feet. 9:51 Player's today can't turn by skate-over-skate or do a backhand pass. 11:17 Cournoyer. No one's faster than Bobby Sheehan. 12:13 Didn't know anything about Espo at first because he only saw Toronto and Montreal back then. 15:05 "I had some (blank)." What did he say? It sounded like, "I had some at-bats." (baseball?) 16:46 Why Joe Namath didn't choose Orr and others for Bachelor's III. Girls there weren't the brightest bulbs. 18:47 64 of the most beautiful girls every shift. 18:59 Residuals 20:17 Derek Sanderson over-reacted the first time he played. "If you even thought about attempting to fight me I would jump ya." 21:07 Bobby Orr went up on his 18th birthday to the Bruins? That's not right. He didn't go until later in the year in the beginning of the 66-67 season. 21:47 Turk’s dad tells him to fight Orr. 30:58 Gordie Howe vs Turk 32:20 Sanderson doesn't like them taking out touch-icing. 40:11 That Bruins team never beat the Canadiens in playoffs. They didn't win until 1988, Sanderson was calling that game and was excited. 40:19 Didn't like Dryden. 41:36 Sanderson didn't get an autograph from Beliveau when he was young so he hit him when he became a player. Had multiple fights after that and his teammate came to defend him when his arm was done. 57:46 Losing Harry Sinden. Went with Tom Johnson, rookie coach.

15:05 Yes, at bats. Meaning, he went to bed with women he picked up in bars & clubs. 21:07 When both players were still in junior, the Oshawa Generals played the NF Flyers in an exhibition game in the old Boston Garden primarily to showcase Bobby Orr to the Boston fans. This was BEFORE Bobby joined the Bruins. Bruins fans had been hearing about Orr for the past 2, 3 years, and Bobby was the best amateur player in North America.

Sanderson was a good player, but not good enough for Team Canada '72. That team was stacked at center.

Among other reasons, they're faster because of the elimination of the center red line and clutching/grabbing/obstruction.
